Which would be preferred for truing the solution?
Adjust the MV to 20-30fps faster the measured MV?
Or adjust the CDF to match with the measured MV?
Is one way better than the other?
BTW the new update seems to have corrected my problem with the CDF & no service.

When you go into the ‘Device’ screen (single target), and are streaming live wind speed/direction from the kestrel, you can shoot the azimuth on the phone, it will update the target wind direction, and update the holds by just shooting the azimuth.

If you’re at a match and have a wide target array, how can you shoot the azimuth’s of the target on the phone, and have the wind stream apply to all targets and update the custom wind directions automatically since you have either a kestrel or calypso streaming live wind directions?

Feels like if it can be done on the ‘Device’ screen, it should be able to be done on the target card?

@DocUSMCRetired any thoughts the above and being able to easily capture/stream the wind once and have it apply to the individual targets if you shoot the azimuth like you can in the ‘device’ screen?

There’s a new issue I am having. I’ve set two match ready profiles for two different loads. They have been trued and have Mv’s adjusted in the kestrel. Perfect!
When using quantum separate from the kestrel, it reverts my custom drag models back to g7. It does this either from just going in to view the data in the profile or if Select the riflescope and input the scope info. It always asks me to save and then it converts the CDM to G7.

Are you removing the Kestrel from the App? Either way please send this in as a support ticket so we can take a look.

How do you pair a Sig2400BDX range finder to the app, the manual only tells you Garmin and Kestrel.
I have my 2400BDX in the app, it says connected, but when I range a target the app does not update the distance?
I am obviously doing something wrong as the list says it is compatible?

So it turns out the reason my data card can't "un-custom" the targets is because I was using the features available for my legacys purchase of applied Ballistics from a few years ago.

FYI there is no visual indicator that a target has custom environment settings or a way to clear them if you don't upgrade to the PRO subscription. That kindof sucks.

Pressure.
Im a little confused. Maybe a lot confused. Between my phone weather app, couple websites, and what i can populate in ABQ, pressure vary quite a bit. Its easy to always hit the button in the ballistic app. But why does the info vary from 28.2 to 29.67 on these different sources? Is it station pressure vs adjusted pressure for sea level?

I live at around 1300 feet elevation in idaho. Shoot between 1200 and 3200 feel elevation.

I understand that regardless of the other apps, if ABQ always pulls consistent numbers i should be fine, and disregard the others. Right?

Maybe there is a good resource to watch or read that would help me understand?

Some of these are Barometric Pressure, some of them are Station Pressure. Something to consider is that Barometric Pressure is calibrated for the location of the sensor. So it is location specific. If your physical elevation is different from theirs, then their is a variance to account for (but most outputs or readings are not going to do this). Our app can take your GPS location, the Barometric Pressure of the weather station, and back convert it proper for ballistics.

Combined with temp, and humidity for the density altitude.

If the weather station reports in barometric pressure, the app will convert it. If the weather station reports its using station pressure the app will leave it untouched. Their are rare cases where a weather station is programmed incorrectly or reporting incorrectly. Also, when doing the conversion for barometric pressure, their is going to be some error potentially. Since barometric pressure is calibrated to the exact altitude of the weather station which may or may not report its current elevation, but none the less. If your elevation is different from the weather station elevation their can be some noise.

Are you removing the devices from the app?

Is this on Android or iPhone?

Are these AB Models of the devices (Kestrel 5700) and Sig Kilo BDX devices etc?

Just started using the app with my 5700 Elite, I love it. lots of cool features, well done.

I'm shooting a lot of gas gun matches recently. I have my profiles setup with their reticles (Tremor 3 and Tremor 5), when in the Target Card or Range Card I like to use the Reticle feature to view my holds and reference which wind dot(s) to use prior to the statge,. Is there a way to make the red "target" smaller so I can see more of the wind dots and stadia more clearly? I use my fingers to zoom in on the red 'targets' but they stay honking huge.

Also, I think it would be cool if there was a menu for all of the Accuracy 1st features that are on my 5700 Elite, if they were all able to be viewed in one spot on one screen, even if it was only available when connected to my Kestrel, I'd still be happy with that.

This is something on our list, we are currently focused on another feature we want to introduce next month. But this is on our list.

Would love to have a “last saved “ date or “ edited on” date.
It would help me to know when and where I made the edit. That way I can recall the particular details and forward or back depending on the current in-field result.

Using a Tactix 8 Solar Elite, isn't that supposed to include the Elite AB license? In ABQ it is showing that my App Level is Pro and the tactix 8 - 51mm is Ultralight. So I can only sync 5 profiles.

ETA : Even more annoying. The watch shows as having the Elite license on the devices screen but in the app settings screen it shows Ultralight.

This depends on the watch, but your app level is Pro so their is nothing to upgrade. Some Tactix 8s are Ultralite, and some are Elite. If this one is the Elite SKU PART NUMBER010-03407-10 then use the in app support function so we can see the logs and what the watch itself is reporting as.

I just make another profile, I've actually started naming my profiles after the bullet vs the rifle/ cartridge

If I use the app with a cheaper, non AB kestrel am I giving up anything compared to the 5700?

Maybe I should just take the plunge into a 5700, but I've always liked using a phone (larger screen = more info available at a glance and easier to input) so would like to just use AB Q if I'm not giving up any core/useful features.

I don't think you are sacrificing anything.

DOF and wind direction will be easier to capture directly on the 5700 but if you don't mind transferring that over NBD.
The Kestrel is a bit clunky to use at first but once you get a handle on it, it's easy.

It is quite expensive though. Mine was a prize table one that I only had to pay CDN taxes on.

You will need to create a new rifle profile for each bullet. You can duplicate a profile though to help with this. Click the 3 dots and then duplicate.

The non-AB Models are not compatible with AB Quantum. So you are missing out on the free upgrade of the app that comes with device licenses and Bluetooth connectivity to the AB ECO-System.

I picked up a Kestrel Elite 5700 link recently and this is my first experience using a device like this. I’ve been playing with it for about a month.

1). I’m using the Kestrel link ballistics app right now, but should I be using Quantum AB?

2). If I want custom drag models do I need to use the Quantum AB app or is there a way to use them with the link ballistics app?

3). If I’m using the Kestrel for environmental information, the station pressure where I am standing is what I need, I don’t need the barometric pressure for anything right?

Neat little tool, I need to get it to the range and see how close it is. With the same environmental information input, its spits out a little different elevation data at 600 yards than my past used Chairgun app. About 2.5” of difference . I’m guessing the Kestrel is more accurate.

1) Use whichever of the two apps you prefer best.

2) CDMs are in both KLB and ABQ apps. But only available to the Elite, X, or X-WEZ model of Kestrels.

3) The newer Kestrels automatically measure SP and not BP so they are good to go out of the box.

This can depend on inputs. Did you update the DOF on both ABQ and Kestrel? Did you update Latitude? Is their a decimal value that is rounding off like temperature is 75.XX and not whole numbers? This is why you see slight differences.

@DocUSMCRetired, I have my KiloG2 paired with Quantum (BDX Elite mode) and it seems that both are calculating a firing solution independently, rather than the firing solution being calculated in Quantum and returned to the Kilo, is that the way it is supposed to operate?

What is the advantage of getting a firing solution from the app when the LRF also uses AB?

The automatic "upgrade" from the previous AB app to the "Quantum" version has been quite a disappointment.

The change of pricing model is quite an annoyance in itself. I paid the old version with the idea of “pay once, use forever”, and it had all the features that I need. The “upgrade” brought a bunch of artificial limitations, such as calculation distance limited to 800 m (seriously?!), and Doppler-based Cd curves for Lapua bullets (publicly accessible from Lapua) that now require yearly fees to "unlock".

The interface is totally crippled on smaller screens in bright sunlight – it uses a very small font, and is very crowded. Moreover, some inputs which are essential for me, e.g. the line-of-sight angle, are elsewhere in the menus, and introducing it *and* the wind spd/dir for the same shot requires clicking back-and-forth in the interface.

The app is very annoying requesting Bluetooth control and access to geolocation. There is no way to tell it to shut up forever. I do not require any Bluetooth integration with other devices, and usually keep it off to save battery. Also, I have very good reasons to keep geolocation off on the ranges where I shoot, which seems to go against AB’s ideas of funtionality.

All in all, in the current state the app is essentially useless for my needs, and what I have seen so far does not make me want to open the wallet to see if it gets any better with extra $ spent.

If you were a previous user, and you logged into cloud sync (the profile backup system) with the same account, on the same operating system (ie iOs <-> iOS) then the app will automatically upgrade to Elite for free. As long as Apple or Google properly reports the past purchase to the app. If it doesn't then use the in app support function to let us know, and we will see what Apple or Google is reporting to us.

Can you send a screen shot of you mean by the display being crippled on your device? We tested this with the smaller version of Android and iOs devices and the app seems to run fine. Is it possible you are running accessibility settings and have your font increased 300% or something similar?

Is your app up to date? The app will only ask one time to turn on GPS and Bluetooth and then not again. That was an old bug from an older version.

This may have been answered, but my searching has been unsuccessful.

Is there a way to push a target card from the ABQ app to the Tactix 7 pro ballistics? I have profile updated on watch, but it is a pain to click through the target card and update the ranges for each target while I can do it very easily in the app, but see no way to have the app card overwrite the table in the watch.

I have purchased the app many years ago (I remember we had an exchange re: bug in unit conversion from archaic to metric for wind speed in one of the early versions), but I have never registered for a cloud sync. Do I still qualify for the “+” version? If yes, what shall I do for it?

re: screenshot – (I am running plain Android 11 with default font settings, and accessibility features disabled.) The display is not “crippled” as such, just too busy, with too small characters (hard to read in bright sunlight) – too much information that I do not need to take a shot, and some (like line-of-sight angle) that I do need, but which is not there.

I understand the logic why you filed it under “target”, but I do not always have the luxury of knowing in advance where my targets are, and usually shoot in alpine valleys, where targets are anywhere between -20° and +20° elevation. So the process goes distance – los angle – wind – *blam*. When you think about future versions features, ideally the main screen should be customisable; personally I would get it to display only these three inputs, and the essential outputs of the engine (H and V clicks) – in big bold high-contrast characters, and the rest can be consultable and configurable elsewhere.

re: requests to control bluetooth and access location – yes, it happens every time I fire up the app. Yes, I have the latest version (3.3.7, build 517) available in Google Play Store for Switzerland.

You need to login to cloud sync in the settings. Once logged in, restart your phone. Check to see if it updates. If it does not, send in a support ticket through the app with as much detail as possible.

Hard game to balance what to display and what not to. Right now we are in a middle ground of what users have asked for, and what users have asked for less of. But the HUD should afford you a large display without much clutter.

Hold this thought for a bit.

I think you might benefit from deleting the app. Restarting the phone, and clean installing it. DO NOT DO THIS until you log into web sync and backup your profiles.

- Checked the app, "Subscription level: Ultralight"
- Restarted the device
- Checked the app, Cloud sync logged in, subscription level is still "Ultralight"
- Completely removed the app
- Restarted the device

- Logged in again with the same account
- Still the same: Cloud sync logged in, subscription level "Ultralight"

It shouldn't have required uninstalling the app, only restarting the phone except you had some bugs that were fixed updates ago. For this, please use the in app support function to send the ticket in. This lets us check the bug logs to see why it may or may not have updated.
