The PX is where the selling on this site takes place and a PX post is a post in the PX selling something. It’s what you responded to and shouldn’t. You should PM the seller directly. A PM is a private message.
But you also posted in the post. That is what you should not do. That is how the scammers knew you wanted it and started sending messages.
Speaking of those messages did you report them? If not then we don’t know about them and can’t get rid of them. You do it by hitting the report button at the bottom of the pm they sent you.
Make sure you reported them correctly as they aren’t in the reports bin yet.
Why am I paying monthly dues when nothing is done to filter out all of these scammers. It’s getting worse. Where is my $$$ going. I am going to cancel my monthly. This is getting ridiculous.
We are doing everything we can as mods and @Lowlight and @alexj-12 are doing what they can to limit them but they are an issue on other sites too.
We need the members to do their part also in reporting them when they see them. Reporting them lets us know. And the biggest thing we continually tell people and for some reason they just won’t do it is do not post in PX posts!!!! PM the seller directly! No posting I’m interested or PM Sent or I’ll take it. That is scammer chum. Same with WTB ads.
We need help to take care of the scammers so help us. Don’t be part of the problem.

Trying to get it taken care of but not as easy as most think.
Not putting the blame on the customer but asking for the members to not be part of the problem and make it easier for the scammers to scam anyone. For some reason people will not listen and continue to post in PX posts. Do it if you want but don’t cry when you get scammers sending you PMs and at least report them so we can try and get rid of them.

It used to be as easy as blocking the IP address to all access of the site. I also thought it should be significantly easier.
Now, you have accounts that are hacked through either simple or “complex” means through the users other online accounts or devices. The use of multiple devices as well as the average VPN can make things more difficult to moderate on a site like this with the number of users as well as the demographics spanning the forum.
I’ve FaceTimed with multiple buyers through this forum just to alleviate their stress and hopefully pay it forward. I have allowed, key work, allowed, myself to be scammed on this site for something I should have known was almost too good of a deal.
The trick is to reverse the source of payment to the account that they may even have hacked into as well. Trace the digital footprint, borrow a friends car you like the least. Find that person(s) and do as you please.

You are on the internet, in an open forum.
You are exposing yourself to strangers there is some risk associated with that.

I got scammed from a hacked account. Not from someone that had 0 feedback. At minimum look into what I am complaining about and get your facts straight before try to bully someone into submission
And were you using two factor log in? A unique and complicated password?
How does someone hacking into your or someone else’s account become a SH problem? Hackers are everywhere. Just stop blaming others for what happened.

If that's the case there is almost no way for anyone to stop it, The mods can't just see which accounts have been compromised.

So an valid account had their email / password compromised somewhere else, and then when the scammers realized it worked here too, and scammed someone that is MY FAULT For not knowing BOB's email was compromised in a different hack ?

So here you tell us to do our job, meanwhile I have 4 reports against a valid account and NONE against the actual spoofed account, that is all membership, not us. cuz no one looks

Exactly. And I go through reports and people just write scammer. That tells me nothing. I look at IPs and if there is something that stands out like Nigeria then they are gone. If not I will reject it and tell them to tell me why. Then I have had scammers report good members and I had to do some work to figure it out. Anyone who says we aren’t doing anything has no idea what they are talking about.
