If you are talking about the new AT-X LE with the short forend in .308 then those are only sold to departments per contract. There is a very specific way an individual officer can get one for duty use, but I am not sure of it.
From what I gather we are the only place that sells the AT-X LE.
So long story short it would be faster to cut a civilian one yes.
An over-run of short uppers that will fit both the AT-X and AT-XC would probably turn into a quickly sold out group buy. I'd be in for two. Raw would be fine, the rattle can doesn't need to know.
I’m sending this atx out to get cut at the left edge of the tape. 18” barrel should hit on the left edge of the tape on the barrel. In effect I will have an atx-le when it’s done. Although, it won’t be as clean looking as a factory chassis.
