Garmin Xero C1 Pro chronograph

Mine picks up my kid’s lacrosse shots.
He’s got a better SD than Maury’s ammo.

I read latest update have drop down option to resume, after you paused it.
But is that the same as pausing it and then when you try and start a new one between them it tells you that you have to end the prior session and then can’t resume? Cause I saw that but that’s still not what I’m after. I’d like to shoot two loads against each other and bounce between them to try and reduce shooter fatigue etc. instead of shooting all from one batch and then all from another. I could be alone here but a pause only without being able to do anything but only resume it isn’t it.

Odd thing I just noticed on the updated Shotview app. Devices is now showing my Tactix 8, can't tell what the app does with the watch? I don't remember seeing it in there before.

Hello whe are some pc sw that manage the shooting sessions on vectorial table?
I use ChronoPlotter buy but I have to enter the data for each shot manually.
And do not manage metric data and value after the comma.

I don’t know if mine has ever missed a shot since I got it

If somebody’s is missing more than a couple of percent, it is probably defective or the user is operating wrong
Mine never missed either, and I use it 2-3x/wk. Mine was updated all the way to v3.27, then v3.30 came out and everybody started missing shots. Fortunately I read about it before mine asked to Update, and when it did I kept cancelling it. I've been doing that ever since v3.30 and later v3.32 came out - not gonna catch me with that buggy update!
Oops...it caught me off guard. Wednesday I turned the unit on, cancelled the Update screen, went through all the others up until the last "OK" to arm it (the one with the diagram of where to to position it). I set it in place and got behind the rifle, reviewed dope, checked mirage, etc for a minute, got ready to shoot, reached forward and hit OK. Wait...what's it doing? Instead of an active chrono screen it went to the Garmin logo, then a progress bar appeared. Crap, it's updating! Somewhere in between when I set it up and looked a way for a few minutes, and then reaching up to hit OK, it must have reverted back to the Update screen and I didn't catch it because that's not where I left it.
Anyway, two sessions later it hasn't dropped one yet, but they were short sessions. We'll have to see how it goes.

The reliability of your garmin has made you ignorant to the problems that DO exist. Mine was 1000% prior to 3.30 update, then it was shit, newest update has fixed it somewhat but it's nowhere near as consistent as prior. Everything is the same in use currently VS previously when it never missed a shot ever.

So exactly how many shots are you missing now? Any hard numbers outside of 8/10 from your previous post? The week that I had 3.30 was the only time mine missed anything. Since then it's like 499/500 and I only say 499 because I don't remember if it's missed a single shot. It just doesn't look like many people are really having dropped shots at this point, or any numbers of real significance.

What problems do exist outside of software bonuses that some would like? Really for me it would just be reopening sessions to continue on.

It has the biggest problems with suppressed rifles, I'd say I'm 90% there, braked rifles are better probably closer to 97%. On 3.30 it was missing on average 15% no matter the situation. Now it's better but not perfect like it was prior to 3.30. Ive followed all garmins recommendations, memory wipe, factory reset. Follow muzzle position exactly as I can. The unit was golden prior to 3.30 update. It may had missed 1 of 500, maybe 1000 idk. But it rarely, if ever dropped a shot suppressed or braked. I got this unit as soon as garmin dropped the first lot for shipment, so I've had it for some time.

I've not missed a single shot, except when I was 'smoking and joking' and forgot to hit okay to start the next string...until now. 1st dropped shot, but to its credit, clown boy next to me was crossing lanes and we shot right at the same time and the shot was rejected.

While waiting for Mr. 300WM with the obnoxious brake to finish dicking around, it would show the little spinning thing like it was about to record a shot, but wouldn't register every time he crossed two lanes, so that was a plus.

(edited to remove my fingerprint on the screen, so you guys don't get me in trouble someday)

I'm still on the firmware version that it shipped with and its been totally solid. I keep rejecting any and all updates as I don't see the need (for me) of any added features in the new firmware and I'm confident that the basic functions work and don't miss shots.

Now, if they do an upgrade to allow reopening and adding to a session then I would consider loading it.

Cheers

Be vigilant! Mine caught me not looking and tricked me into it. Good news so far is 3 sessions since update, 10 shots each, no missed shots "yet". My shooting partner has probably 80-100 shots since he got tricked (yes, he was avoiding it as well), and he hasn't missed any yet either. He shoots attached to rifle (338LM), I shoot on the supplied tripod. I should add, when he accidentally upgraded, he got v3.30 first, and did start missing shots, but has since gotten the v3.32 update and has been fine.

Yep, sort of really dislike that the screen defaults to the upgrade page when you BT to the app.

And yeah, if I’m in a rush or not paying close attention it might get me too

What I’m a bit disappointed in is Garmin’s lack of substantial comms on the subject since the get-go.

There was a rep here….WTF did he go?

Don't know, but their last comm was "v3.32 has fixed the problem, and we aren't seeing any missed shots anymore."
Yeah, except for the people here reporting occasional missed shots w that release

. Certainly far better than the prior release that pretty much broke it but my impression is the OG firmware is still the most reliable for picking up shots.

Yeah, I know, and that's why I continued to decline updates even after that last comm until it got me (that just happened Wednesday, and I had already declined it at startup).

Let me know when all this is ironed out, as we should start a discussion on the lackluster app and its lack of allowing us to add attributes/load data without trying to ghetto stuff them into a tiny note...but I digress.

I love the app on my old $90 chrono, so it's not like adding some value-added features to a $500 chrono app is cost prohibitive. Hell, they could probably get the 35 lines of code off Fiver for $10.

They crushed LR and stole 90% of their marketshare, easy, and with a $300 something clone out there now, now's not the time to get complacent, Garmin. Let's make collecting chrono data great again. L-F-G!

The reason I recently updated mine is because if you deleted a shot, it didn’t change the standard deviation of the remaining string which always pissed me off because if I had an extreme outlier, I wanted to know what the rest of the string had in terms of its SD so for a whileI was going in manually putting the shot velocities into Excel, which was a pain in the ass

There was an old episode of the Twilight Zone. “To serve Man.” Basically aliens, (real outer space aliens) landed on earth and supposedly there to help human kind on Earth. They gave them a book, to translate.

Everyone was going on vacation to the alien planet as it seemed to be a big thing. Finally the skeptic scientist decided to go there. As he was boarding and could not get off, his assistant ran up and said they finally translated it, To Serve Man, was a cookbook.

I am the skeptic. I’ve used Garmin products for several decades now and always know, don’t buy Garmin early because they are famous for letting the customers do the beta testing. I warned all y’all, wait. No one listened. Dumped your Labradar’s like last nights whore.

Well the skeptic finally thought, it’s been a while, surely they got it right by now, so I pulled the trigger and got mine delivered last Wednesday. Sure enough, as soon as I get a Garmin, the complaints start piling in. Best thing, I’ve gone though two sessions, with no issues. (And not one dropped shot).

The complaints started well before last Wednesday. It started sometime late February, early March.

Some have had more trouble than others, but the issue has zero to do with early adopters and everything to do with a bad software update.
