I’m on iOS and not seeing any change.
There is a glitch but we are working on a fix. For now the KLB menu will not show unless it is connected to the Kestrel.
For those who must have access without a connection, here is a fix that has worked for some:
Write down all profile information on 5700.
delete all profiles off the KLB app.
delete app.
turn phone off
turn phone on
re-install app.
pull all profiles from 5700 back to the KLB.

It appears to be open source. Is Kestrel thinking doing anything to include it?Their FAQ does not list a Kestrel connection.

I agree needing to connect to the Kestrel is super annoying. It kills being able to check things when I'm at work or a thought crosses my mind. It's also something I very much enjoyed about the old AB app, you could benchrest ballistics and now you can't.
I did the update to KLB 1.289 and it didn’t work. Still the same as before
Did you pair once after the update and then when opening the app afterwards you do not get the menus?
anyone else having trouble in updating the 5700 elite to firmware V 1.55..? It will down load all the way but when it cycles it still has FW 1.53 on the kestrel.

When I connect it to my app (iPhone) the app advises I need to update to Version 1.55. I turn off the Privacy Pin and do the update - all seems to work, the kestrel restarts and the app says complete.
I then check the Kestrel device and it still shows as version 1.53
I have now done this process a total of 5 times even using my iPad instead of the phone, factory resetting the kestrel and anything else I thought might help.
Can any one please advise how best to update the software so it updates the Kestrel?
Ive logged two support cases and nothing and have also now emailed but im hoping to get better support from our community!!

I am having the same problem--trying to update to FW 1.55-- using Android (Kestrel 5700 Elite FW 1.53)

I helped a friend with a newly purchased 5700X and also had the update fail multiple times using his iPhone.
It eventually worked after placing the phone in Airplane mode and then turning on WiFi for any required internet, then Bluetooth and quickly connecting to the 5700. The other thing I did was ensure the phone screen didn't go to sleep during the process.
ok thanks Ill give it a try - but I must say for the price this thing is so antiquated, the user experience is shocking the app looks like it was designed in MS Dos and now it won't connect to my Garmin!!!
I think they have owned the market for so long they failed to innovate??
Maybe time to return it and look at alternatives??

This issue seems to be fixed (as far as updating the kestrel firmware to 1.55 using android)

I bought a Kestrel 5700 Elite Ballistics without link. I bought the USB data transfer cable, but it is not letting me update the firmware to 1.53. I have the Kenstrel Link software on my PC. For some reason when I search the firmware update download it is only showing me 1.49. After downloading that and going back to Kestrel Link, it is telling me there is no firmware update available.
After a rather disappointing back and forth with Kestrel support, the current Link for Windows app can't tell between certain new and old hardware revisions. They wouldn't provide the correct firmware via email even when I gave them all of the identifiers from unit.
Their current stance is use android or iOS.
Unfortunately, I cannot use iOS becuase I have a non-link unit, so it does not have Bluetooth. I am on version 1.49, which is perfectly fine, but I would like to have the new update that has the 5 yard increments on the range card.
I’m glad it wasn’t just me. I came to see if anyone else had that problem. It changed a ton of stuff. I’m still finding stuff it changed. It also took forever to pull my profiles into my phone.
These firmware updates have been a festering rash since my first 5700AB in 2015.
How a tech company can’t figure by now, out a way to save all settings to be repopulated after a FW update is beyond me.
Now the app keeps bugging me to update to wez for $100 after being a guinea pig for 10 years.
Mine says update complete to 1.55 but Kestrel still states it's on 1.53 after at least 5 update attempts, all stating it's complete.
I’ve all been having an issue updating my kestrel 5700 elite to 1.55 from 1.53
So far I’ve tried an IPad Pro 4th gen, IPhone 15 pro and Samsung S24. I’ve deleted the apps on all three, reset the kestrel and have even put all devices on airplane mode to no avail.

My 5700X-WEZ is on 2.20, so a completely different Firmware for the X models.
Kestrel with Calypso AB
I used the Calypso AB bluetoothed to my Kestrel this weekend and it worked great but I have a couple questions.
1. Can I get the running average of wind speed instead of current wind speed?
2. Can I use this with the target card to get "all wind"? Maybe set Calypso to a true north and reflect wind direction and speed for each individual target based on target direction? I would love to use this in conjunction with the HUD unit.

I have the 5700 Elite upgraded to the 1.55 from 1.53. Backed up my profiles on the app reloaded them after the upgrade but it was weird some of my zeros changed I had to go back and check all the data entered and turn on the temp table again. Used it sat for a couple matches and 2 different gun profiles both worked fine.
