The ones that crossed the border at the checkpoints are not illegals. They were granted asylum and given court dates, working papers and other stuff. Rounding up the hotel workers, restaurant workers and other types will be a major waste of resources sifting out the ones with amnesty claims and those that don't. Hitting the criminals with warrants, whether they have an amnesty court date or not, is a better use of resources. Once done with the easy then dig into the others. And politically it doesn't hurt a fragile economy.

My two cents says that the asylum claims were not legitimate.
My 98 cents says that it's legal until it goes through the courts and ultimately ruled upon. In the meantime each case has a date. If the claimant doesn't show up to court they are then illegals. If they do show up then it's on the immigration court to decide.
