If I had to choose one, the AXMC/ASR. And I love my AW. Caliber choices are greater with a long action, especially if you have all the bolts. Only real drawback and it's a big one, is custom barrels are spendy and hard as hell to find.

So... I gotta ask.... In an ai... Why is 300wsm a big deal when you can just run a....drum roll..... A 300wm?
Because I owned an AXMC. Didn’t like it as much as my thumbhole AT. So after trying AT, ATX and AXMC I now own 2 thumbhole AT’s. So one will be a 260/300 WSM setup. The other is my full time crop damage rifle and runs a 308 tube year round

Plus it’s fun to try new things

Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the RR. I’ve been going back and forth between Magnus S and S-RR. Don’t love the way the RR looks but can’t deny it if it works. Let us know please. Thanks.
If you are not gonna do the RR get the full size magnum which is stupid quite. S RR is my fav can; and i have all 3 sizes.

(Sorry i wasnt asked but wanted to pitch in)

Previous I had a 338 Ultra on the gun borrowed from my AXMC.

It’s definitely louder because of the cane being maybe 2” shorter than the 338 Ultra, but the recoil is less. Especially with more gas going through the brake from the shorter barrel.

It depends on the situation. I was shooting my 20" 338LM last week with a 338SR and it not loud at all with no ear pro on.

I have shot my 338 with the ultra without ears a time or two just to see what it’s like. I do have very sensitive ears and it was surprisingly pleasant to shoot once, but I would absolutely not consider it hearing safe (anything above 87 db will permanently damage your hearing contrary to what people say).

I thought it was fine too to shoot suppressed without ears. Got my first can in 2012 at age 32. 10 inch 556 suppressed and 18 inch MK12 suppressed was pretty quiet. The box said it was 138db so that was below the magical 140db that would ruin your hearing.

Now I’m 45 and can’t hear a damn thing. My AXSR with a 6CM 24 inch barrel and a 338SR is pretty damn quiet but I won’t shoot a thing without ears if I have the option.

I never shoot my semis without ear protection. Especially the short barrels. The noise coming from the BCG is probably above 140. And short barrel AR’s just aren’t very quiet anyway

I shoot all my bolt guns without ear pro. But I have bad hearing already. Mine hits the 2000 mhz or whatever the scale is and drops like a ski slope
