Mk 13 Mod 0 stock

This one is getting closer, still need a few things: old Leupold Ultra rings and the action screws, but hope to send it off to Red Bull soon, for Chris to finish later this year or early 2026.

I presume this is a Mod 0 Build. Don't you already have the action screws or does this build require a different set of screws?

Crane used heavy duty Allen head bolts instead of regular Remington action screws, including the threaded recoil lug which also used a bolt. I need those three parts, as my stock was missing them, but it’s no biggie once cut to proper length.

Man that Allen head for the BDL bottom metal is ugly. I might just use factory instead.
Well, in addition to Navy SEAL rifles made at Crane since the 1980s-90s, make sure you never look at the bottom metal bolts on USMC sniper rifles made at Quantico, VA since about 1978 - all those “ugly” action bolts might offend…

…maybe this old 1981 article on the above USMC sniper rifles explains why this has been done for 40 plus years on precision military sniper rifles:

….but if you like the hunting rifle look with the factory recessed bolts, that’s your choice. I’m choosing the military bolts to go with my pricey military stocks. To each their own of course…

I have been meaning to post an update to the project for the past few weeks just so everyone knows the status. FYI and update all blanks have been ordered for the project, when I ordered the blanks from Lilja I asked them if I had any time to add any additional quantity to the order? They told me I have until mid August to add any additional quantity, then at that point the quantity will be permanently locked in. Just in case anyone else needs a Mod 3 barrel or wants to add an additional now is your opportunity...

had a huge bag of these. i had to mix and match them to fit with my rifles. They were cut to length by crane.

Ryan's MK13-7 is going live on Rock Island in a few hours. This is a peak MK13-7 with contract era 'Wylie' marked Stiller action and the rarer Tan Anodize Chassis. Not many Tan Anodized Chassis are in the civilian market. MileHigh Shooting sold a handful of overruns long ago. The vast majority of MK13-7 Chassis on the commercial market are Mil-Spec Cerakoted. Rifle was built by Chris at Redbull. Excited to see what this goes for. If anyone is looking for a MK13-7 - Ryan's is a pinnacle build.

That doesn't seem too far off for a MK13 without optic and a stripped case. If it's still the same as a it was a few years ago they some hefty buyer fees so actual price after all fees and taxes are likely 10k+. Just googled it buyers premium is 18.5%.

There are nuances with the stiller mk13's that separate a $8,000 gun and a $13,000 gun. I think Ryan's gun sold low because of poor marketing and Rock Island being a poor fit for the rifle.

The Wylie actions command the highest values. Every Wylie released was a contract overrun. Every Serial number lives within the serial number block for issued MK13-5's and MK13-7's. Serials being in the 1-1500 range. If doing a museum grade MK13-5 with a Stiller or MK13-7 - The Wylie action is the best option.

The Second most desirable is a Garland Marked action. The garlands serials range roughly in the 1500-1900's. While some garlands were used on USMC mod 7's, the actions on market are outside of the serial range of the issued MK13-5/7's.

The third most desirable is are the Shiner marked MK13 actions. These came out after Stiller sold and the markings and fonts are different. These are obviously outside the issued range.

The least most desirable is the current production Mk13 actions. They are have the same different markings as above, and they changed the bolt. The bolts handles are angled.
