Import marks before they started putting them on the side. Oak Ridge around that time.
The tick is probably just sharpie. Use isopropyl to wipe it off. Don’t think too hard into it…

Man.. you WAS literally on the row with the pictures.. until..well just an advice, you should take down 1 of those pictures. Or you’ll get an ear full of post here. It’s the obvious one.
308 = GOD's caliberAfter 5 months of being a safe queen finally shot the AT today.
Not nice tiny groups to show off but the rifle is a joy to shoot. The mighty 308 is a little hard to keep on target for spotting impacts/misses, but considering it was was first few boxes of ammo through it, I felt it did alright.

I like shooting 308. I reload 308. And that’s the only way to push and maybe keep up with 6-6.5 mm lineups is to reload them. Other than that, factory ammo 308 suck at distance.308 = GOD's caliber
I don't mind the challenge at longer distances.I like shooting 308. I reload 308. And that’s the only way to push and maybe keep up with 6-6.5 mm lineups is to reload them. Other than that, factory ammo 308 suck at distance.
I have a 6.5cm barrel for it, but keen to try a match with this shorty barrel and blast through the factory ammo I have.308 = GOD's caliber
Over pressure?I have a question for the learned AI experts to help understand an issue with my AXMC using my new 300 WM bolt.
I configured the MC with the new bolt body, a new AI 300 PRC barrel, and a new magazine that has been tuned for 300 PRC (red follower). I went to zero it today. The rifle performed well in terms of accuracy. I had it zeroed in 3 shots. I used Hornady 300 PRC ammo with the 225-grain bullet. Before I began the process, I loaded the magazine, put the safety in the middle position, and cycled the bolt to check feeding and extraction. All of the rounds loaded and extracted perfectly. The bolt ran smoothly during chambering and extraction.
I then began the zeroing process. I fired one round, and was pleasantly surprised that the POI was minimally different than when shooting .308. Here is where the issue began. After firing, cycling the bolt required considerable force to open it fully. It went up to a point close to the top, but then required excessive force to lock it in the open position so I could extract the fired cartridge. I fired a total of 15 cartridges. All required extra effort to lock the bolt open, so it could extract the round. Some required more force than others.
I measured fired and unfired cartridges, and dimensionally, they were almost identical. The only measurement that was different was the diameter of the neck. An unfired case measured 0.338" while the fired case neck diameter measured 0.345". I don't know if that is normal since I don't reload.
Any thoughts?
They look good to me, but I don't reload. Here is a photo of a few.Over pressure?
Got a pic of the rear of the cases? Primer area
Flattened primers, cratering and ejector marks
TY!!
Factory rounds can have over pressure. Try a lighter grain. I’ve seen 6.5 CM have issues in some guns with factory ammo as wellTY!!
These rounds are factory, though. What would cause the overpressure?
I will try a lighter grain roundFactory rounds can have over pressure. Try a lighter grain. I’ve seen 6.5 CM have issues in some guns with factory ammo as well
After trying 6.5 CM and 300 PRC I seen pressure issues and went back to my 260 and would go back to 300 WM throated longer if I went back to a long action mag again
First time firing a new barrel. I didn't see any grooves in the bullet when I cycled them before firing.Could also be jammed in the lans, or carbon ring if you barrel is dirty. Not saying yours is.
Does Hornady crimp the bullet? I’ve seen some factory (not Hornady) ones that have some type of glue on the heads also. Though I’ve only seen it on 223 rounds.
Nothing on the heads, but I don't know about the crimp.Does Hornady crimp the bullet? I’ve seen some factory (not Hornady) ones that have some type of glue on the heads also. Though I’ve only seen it on 223 rounds.
But then again.. other things to consider. Hornady brass is not the greatest either. I don’t use Hornady brass but I’ve heard they are soft an thin. So the pressure could be expanding out to the base of the case as well. Causing such over pressure signs. I wouldn’t worry about it imo. I say you should be fine shooting them. I mean you don’t reload so your just gonna toss those factory brass anyways. But if you ever do reload, buy Lapua and don’t reload range picked brass.Nothing on the heads, but I don't know about the crimp.
I will try some Berger 215s
That is why I want to try the Berger 215. It is loaded with Lapua brass. But then again.. other things to consider. Hornady brass is not the greatest either. Save those brass. If ever you wanna try reload one day. Or you could sell them as 1 time fired. That is why I want to try the Berger 215. It is loaded with Lapua brass.
What the hell dude? For a couple of years I’ve been listening to you trying to find that bolt body, and you’re gonna blow it up first day?I have a question for the learned AI experts to help understand an issue with my AXMC using my new 300 WM bolt.

Could also be excessive headspace forcing the brass back, no?Could also be jammed in the lans, or carbon ring if you barrel is dirty. Not saying yours is.
I know, right? What the hell dude? For a couple of years I’ve been listening to you trying to find that bolt body, and you’re gonna blow it up first day?
All joking aside, there was a guy in Franks class last year at Black Bear and I’m pretty sure he was shooting a 300 PRC, and he was using factory Hornady ammo and was blowing the primers. Actually had one cause a failure to fire because a blown primer got stuck in the trigger. Not sure what grain, sorry
Good luck with your Berger. You’ve been waiting too long for this
Basically the whole AI thread is pulling for you, you poor left-handed bastard don’t mess it up!! Aiiieeee!I know, right?
Thanks for the chuckle.
All I kept thinking about when pushing up on the bolt was what @carbonbased said when I posted about getting the bolt. He said, "Cue to all your bolt handles snapping off in 1…2…3…"
It is good to hear that others are having this problem. Much easier to solve than if the problem were due to a machining issue with the bolt or barrel.
I'll let everyone know what happens when I can find some Berger.
Shot you a text.I'll let everyone know what happens when I can find some Berger.
You mean monopod, right? Atlas, the bipod manufacturer, makes them. As far as the factory AI models (like AW) fitting at AT, I’m not sure.AT guys - do any of the AI buttspikes fit the AT directly?
Also, I'm looking for an IMUNS for the AT if anyone may know where to find one.
Apologies, I noticed you were “orange” and didn’t have a full member tag and jumped to conclusions. Sorry man.Yes, the factory AI buttspike monopods.
I'm a paid site supporter, thank you, and I was not "posting a WTB ad". I was asking if anyone had a lead to somewhere obscure that may have some hanging around in stock still. I've seen folks link to hard to find parts in this thread and others. if the mods have a problem with this, I'll happily remove it.

Reasons like this are why I posted a thread in the admin section asking Frank to clarify the whole colors and tagging scheme. He admitted the system had degraded into a bit of chaos.

User colors, tag meanings? Plus 2x supporter tag question
Is there a post explaining all the different permutations of user colors and tags? This is not a criticism but I’m a bit confused. For example: Green user @hafejd30 with apparently the same membership level as me (I’m blue): What’s the difference between blue vs green people? I do...www.snipershide.com
Oh, heck yes. One of the reasons I got my AXSR in 300PC - I already had an AXMC in 300NM, and I do handload, but I also like the option to be able to shoot factory ammo if it's decent. Hornady 300PRC 225 ELD Match ammo is less than half the price of Berger 300NM 230 OTM Tactical Match ammo, and on my home range of 1626 yds the PRC can hold its own against the NM (but not at longer distances).Thanks...way more $$$ than Hornady
Does Berger actually make a 215gr load for 300PRC? I've only ever seen the 245gr Elite Hunter load. That is why I want to try the Berger 215. It is loaded with Lapua brass.
