Anybody have any opinions on using a Win Pre64 Model 70 action for a high pressure 7mm Backcountry build? Ive heard several times throughout the years that the Pre 64 action maybe wasn't as strong as a person might need for a boomer cartridge.

I'd probably go with a bat igniter long action, has 1-1/8" tenon, oversized lugs to handle lapua/norma cartridges. You'll need a barrel with an 1.250 shank to thread up properly to the larger tenon thread. The igniter/hr long actions are some the stoutest 700 clones made.

I definitely wouldn’t use the Winchester action, I’d probably go with something 3 lug to help distribute the higher pressure if you want to build some or get a factory rifle chambered in it like the seekins havak

Seekins reciever...IS aluminum with steel inserts.
No thanks...on a continual pounding of 80,000 psi...no matter what Seekins says I won't use that action...I'd take the Winchester over aluminum reciever any day.
Seekins no longer supports their older models in favor of the new model 3.

Besides the 80,000 psi cartridges run good in most any existing action without modification, for at least around 1000 rds in my testing so far with both two lug and 3 lug actions...three lug would have more lug area.
There are like 13 standard commercial actions available for the 7 mm BC.
Start testing on the 7mm BC with 2 lug action tomorrow.

I believe the element/element hunter is the only hybrid aluminum action they produce, the rest of the line are steel actions from what I understand.

Yesterday, I actually bought a 6 lb carbon fiber 20" 2 lug Weatherby 307 action to test out the 7 mm BC.

It's the real deal. I'm really liking this caliber.

No issues at all, no problems with stiff bolt, feeding, or ejection...just like shooting factory brass cases. And it's accurate.

20 " barrel 170 gr 3104 fps .166" 3 shot group.

175 gr 20" barrel 3031 fps ave over 15 rds with single digit S/D. And several 1/4" or less 3 shot groups. With Federal factory 7mm BC ammo.

No cleaning at the range, no barrel break-in.
I prefer to lapp and polish before going out to shoot...probably voids the warranty but I never use them anyway...plus its gonna be shooting reloads both steel cased and brass cased but at lesser pressure on the brass case.
