Looking for recommendations for 338 Lapua suppressor. I have an 12 lb hunting setup so recoil is a concern as much as suppression. The TBAC338 ultra seems to be the only recommended I see. If going that route, is the RR model (brake on the end) required?

I have a Nomax 33 and like it a lot. Very good suppression and comfortable to shoot without hearing protection. Big, but surprisingly handy due to light weight.
I have shot 338LM through a Hybrid (mine), 36M and Rugged Alaskan 360 and none were comfortable to shoot, didn't really feel hearing safe to me.
I own a couple TBAC and am a fan boy, but don't have a 338 to compare the Nomax with.
I have been on the range with my Nomax 33 shooting 338LM with another shooter that had a TBAC and 338NM. We couldn't take ears off, but everyone was amazed how well they suppressed. The big cans are in a different class than the smaller cans with over bores IMO.
Recoil is more push and less snap with the can on, but I think about the same. I really like not having the noise of the break though.

I am a fanboy of TBAC, but took a risk on the Nomax due to price and availability. Glad I did, no regrets.
Get the nomax. I have a Hyperion and the hub concept on nomax is a much better/ more flexible design.
I have a lot of clients running the SiCo 36M on .338LM and 300NM with very good results. I personally have 2 of them for the same thing.
Everybody is running them on ASR mounts or HUB.
Not too heavy. Not too massive. Good suppression and overall performance.

I run a TBAC338 my 338 Edge. Helps with the recoil. Also a 12.5lbs setup. No clues on the Magnus brake.
This is my newer favorite - really tames .300NM and .338LM
While the competition has really stepped up the last couple years, I went with TBAC because it was such a known quantity. In the end, kind of hard to go wrong with most of the options as long as they meet your weight concerns and have reliable mounting systems.
I can't wait for the NFA to die so we can start trading suppressors like pokemon cards. I want to try almost all of the cans listed in this thread.

Looks like e-silencers has a Ultra 338 in stock now.. Ain't cheap though.
nothing about a 338 Laupa is cheap. But that did shock me a little.
Before the Magnus became a thing, the premium was worth it on even the .30cal magnums.
I just checked the Silencer Shop website and they have the .338 Ultra in stock now. Isn't cheap though.

the sico big bore i have is a 1.8" diam can x 8" long + brake
i am running it on my 338 lapua imp running 105 grains of n570 plugging 300 grain bergers at 3,050 and all you hear is the crack

I finally got a Recoil-X for my Nomax 33, as they had been out of stock. My first trip to the range yesterday was a success, and I couldn't be more pleased.
Sound suppression is still excellent; people around me said I was as quiet with a 26" 338LM as others on the line shooting short actions suppressed. Not a true test, but I let others shoot my rifle and felt the same way, very good!
The biggest difference I noticed was a far more comfortable shooting experience.
Less recoil
More shove and less snap to the kick.
A lot of muzzle blast comes out of the sides. It was literally knocking stuff off the shooting bench next to me. I was amazed that it had that much blast after going through such a large can.
My groups out of the rifle, which normally are very good, were even better than usual, perhaps just a good day, but I think the reduced recoil helped with my consistency.
I use a Cole-Tac suppressor cover, and it has a string to keep it from moving forward under recoil. If it didn't, I'd be worried about trashing the cover if it got over the break.
Supper happy with the Recoil-X and the Nomax 33.
