Reminds me of ft Irwin. What scope mount is that?

Yup, similar terrain to NTC. Ah…memories of sitting in an OP up on The Whale….

…anyway, yeah that’s an Area419 mount - by far my favorite mount these days.

I’ve officially drunk the AI flavor-ade - seriously enjoying AT-XC and AXSR. My poor SRSs will be stuck in the safe. Well guys, it was a good 15 year run, but the hot young chick has my attention now.

Now I just need the AX50 to go with it

Not ideal. I think the farthest we shot the Voodoo-MX was about 400 yards that night - though it would have been fine for a 600 yard target if we had one placed or moved the FFP. But the main issue was the targets cooled down a bit faster than expected, so it became harder to see them with LWIR (the HISS obviously doesn’t care). That being said, the Voodoo-M series is damned good with an image that holds up very well between 3.5-10x magnification. The Voodoo-S obviously wasn’t anything close to that, getting fairly pixelated around 4-5x, but it’s a much smaller device.

How’s the a POT compared to the XLR at a 1000 yrds? Well since you have both of em.. nice setup btw.. 👍

Going back and re-reading your comment, in case it wasn’t clear in my response, as great as the Voodoo-M series is, I don’t think there’s anything in that class that compares to the HISS-XLR. Not just because it’s a cooled MWIR sensor (though both are 640x) and therefore significantly more sensitive, but also because of the 240mm lens. The Voodoo-M has a wide enough FOV that it’s really easy to scan and pick out targets inside of 400 yards, while the HISS-XLR has a crazy tight FOV close to 2 degrees that makes scanning inside that distance kind of tricky. But that tight FOV combined with approx 15x demag makes it a clip-on that can be used with a day optic at much higher magnification range than others (I’ve used it at 30x with a spotter often). It also has continuous zoom up to 4x, so technically you even need to use much scope mag. So while the Voodoo-M is a fantastic broadly capable thermal clip-on, the HISS-XLR is a niche thermal for spotting/shooting far.

And since this is technically an AI pic thread, here’s the AXSR with the Nomax33

6BR - Sage green ATXC - this fuckin rifle I absolutely hated green prior to buying it and now it’s probably my favorite….

And my AXSR with the new XL60.. it ain’t no hiss or anything super cool - but it’ll smoke a song dog with no issue….running the ole 6.5cm barrel nice and slow @ 2650fps😂 everyone around here thinks in order to kill a coyote you have to run a 22cm at 3800fps or else you can’t kill them…

Ironically i was out playing with that scope picking out some of my smaller targets last night, shooting them, verifying the calculator was on. Coyote appears outta no where, sent a round and man, im about ready to list all of my shit for sale because that was the worst pulled shot of a lifetime. Only was 350yds away... good god i do suck. I haven't missed one inside 500 in a while. I lost sleep because of it.

I had a similar reaction once when I almost shot a buck's hoof off at 100 yards with a full custom 6.5 prc lol

Careful, now you're really making him not feel "internet safe" and he's going to notify the mods... you stalker.

The mod just closed the thread at his request, lol!

I also dug through his post history for mention of a location and then did google searches for pictures inside gun shops in that area looking for a match on the display cases, flooring, and wall decorations. Also found one of the other shops in the area he's posted pictures from and purchased from recently, lol

Not surprised someone beat me to it and it's cool you snagged the AWM if I'm interpreting your smiley faces correctly. Post pics when you get it!

I really thought about buying both this afternoon when I first saw the post from @taliv , but in all honesty I would have flipped them to fund other projects and builds. I already have 2x AX308s and an AXMC, and have owned AW/AE/ATs in the past. The AW and AWM are still very cool but getting parts for discontinued AI rifles is even more of a pain in the ass than getting parts for current production AI rifles, and I would be worried about that if I damaged a bolt head or firing pin with a pierced primer or something.

Worse yet, if I bought them to flip I'm worried I might catch some hell here and possibly earn my very own abominable snowman meme (it's not like I bought Euro Optic out of 8541 marked S&Bs and then tried reselling them at a huge markup, but it's the same general principle, lol)
The rifle has arrived.
It’s ….brand new. Not a scratch. The bolt and receiver have no sign of friction, the action / bolt lift is very smooth.

Finally starting to get the rifle out more frequently now I'm doing less rimfire.

Took the rifle to an NRA shoot (FTR, F class, etc) shooting 3/5/600 yards, my dodgy 308 reloads and 16" barrel did well at 300 but fell apart after that, need to shoot some more to work out if it was just wind giving me vertical in my groups, or I need to speed more time tuning my load.

168gr ELD-Ms, Varget, Sellior Bellot (shite) brass, and ES of 50fps.
Quite a windy day with a variable 4-5oclock wind.

300yards, wind was difficult but group was .74moa tall including the first sighted I dialed down .1mil after.

500yards, not bad windage (was a windy day) but vertical is 1.4moa, would be a little less without first sighter

600yards, was really questioning my elevation after shots 6 and 7 so dialed up and ended up putting shot 9 quite high. Shot 6 was slow on the Garmin, not sure why 7 went low though.

600yards with some 168SMK Sellipr Bellot Match ammo, grouped well at 100yards but has an ES of 80, so wasn't expecting good things. A lot worse than 168 ELDMs in the wind.

308 certainly recoil more than 22lr, but getting better at controlling recoil. Added the adjustable butt pad which definitely helped, had to wait for replacement parts from the UK though as the adjustable butt I received was incorrectly assembled.
Apparently AI messed up a few and they didn't know who received the bad ones so have just been waiting for people to complain.

I received the one on the left which must fit an AX butt, the right side one is what they sent me as a replacement.

Here the adjustable butt as received vs the standard spacers.

So if anyone else ends up with a butt that doesn't fit, this is why.

Looks like fun.
Most .308's can be very accurate, it's worth the time and trouble to work up a good load. Ask what the local winning Palma/Fullbore shooters are using and see if the helps.
What size are the 9, 10 & X rings?

Spoke to the guys I was shooting with, and they were using a variety of different bullets: 208 ELDs, 200.20x Bergers, 155SMKs, 155.5gr Bergers.

I didn't want to go down the reloading rabbit hole with 308, was just planning to shoot factory ammo for practice and develop a load for shooting animals out to 400ish meters (hence 16" barrel), which this load should be good enough for.

If I do decide develop the load further I'll get some better dies and brass, and probably try some 155 ELD-Ms.
168 ELD-Ms at 2500fps, in the 1:12 twist are probably at the edge of stability.

The 168SMK ammo at 2430fps looks like it's very near transonic even at 600 yards. Maybe I'll get a proper length 308 barrel at some stage.
