I will always be an AI luddite.
Bonded action gang.
Damn, tough crowd; $70K sitting on the walkway sans suppressor and it's bad...

Well, you would think by the time you had spent 70K you would have found out how to buy a suppressor.
All I hear are excuses.
Fine, here’s the shorty AT-XC with a can. I only picked up the AXSR the other day, but I guess that’s an excuse.
3-D printed that I think I may have picked up here on the Hide a looooong time ago. Made (obviously) to fit the AXMC.
A very interesting rifle that showed up on R4 today, the TrackingPoint ShadowTrax8 in .338LM. A slaved system with a tablet and a heads up display available through your shooting glasses.

Lower your voice with that moa optic.GTFO with that DARPA reject shit, this is the AI pic thread!

Did a hell of a job for a first bolt gun congrats!I picked up this beauty from a member here.
I put a scope and other goodies on it.

Then cut some foam for it (great tutorial somewhere here using an electric knife)

This is my first bolt action rifle and I couldn’t be happier. Took it out shooting for the first time last Saturday and had half inch groups at roughly 100 yards using Hornady 147gr tap ammo.
Thanks! It’s likely going to be my only bolt gun so it was a bit of a “go big or go home” kinda thing.Did a hell of a job for a first bolt gun congrats!
Central IL by chance?I’ve had the full size Magnus for a little while but I haven’t used it yet so I tossed it on the 6.5 barrel that came with this thing. It is really quiet, but to me it’s only a tiny bit quieter than the RR version of the same length. The S-RR is probably my favorite as far as all around use.
I got a couple recoil X brakes to try on them, everything I heard was positive so we will see.
So far, I absolutely love this XC…
Thought you’d be closer…your yard as burnt as mine and the corn looks good (as it can)Yep, right around the rockfalls area.
One of the benefits of a quick change barrel. 308 one day, 6.5creed the next, 6dasher at the match. Thanks! It’s likely going to be my only bolt gun so it was a bit of a “go big or go home” kinda thing.
MKM makes this.Has anyone replaced the magazine catch on their AT/AW/AX?
I thought I remember seeing Samb did one (or was it required for his chassis?).
Not that there is anything wrong with the factory one, but a wider/longer one would make mag changes easier.
I recall the AT-X had a much better competition magazine release, but can't find any good pictures of it.

Smokin deal. Can’t lose.Fellas, this popped up on a different forum I’m on. Some lgs has an old AIAW 308 and AWM 338 (I think) for sale. Both folders with S&B PM2 and bipods. They’re asking $6k each. Scope included as I understand it. Looks like a heckuva deal to me.
accurate international with Schmidt and bender. Pass or Follow?? $6,000! ouch
they have two of the coolest rifle I’ve ever seen at my shop. One is a 338 Lapua and the other is a 308 They are asking 6000 big ones each! what do you guys think!www.thehighroad.org
Wish I could snag them. Genuinely a good deal. Id like to see more photos.Fellas, this popped up on a different forum I’m on. Some lgs has an old AIAW 308 and AWM 338 (I think) for sale. Took me almost a decade to find snipershide, went through so many forums trying to find one that wasn't just full of fudds.Someone didn't research recent AW & AWM selling prices very well, doesn't care, or just wants them sold quick provided the post was true... I'm very tempted to make a $12k impulse buy if I knew where they were.
Also, having not looked at THR in years, I'm glad to see the same high percentage of curmudgeonly post content. Loved the post in that AI thread about how they're too heavy and $6k being too much and how he could use that $6 to build "at least" 3 rifles exactly the way he wanted to, lol. And now the OP doesn't feel "internet safe" and wants the thread closed because a bunch of recently registered members (probably from here) are PMing him asking for the location of said $6k AIs... classic THR, but it's not the full THR experience until someone gets banned for the most minor infraction of wrongspeak.
I found that store with AWM and AW, based on the OP pics shared (tile on the floor, showcases, walls decoration), and the fact where he is located (had to research his first 10-20 messages in that forum posted in 2021).Someone didn't research recent AW & AWM selling prices very well, doesn't care, or just wants them sold quick provided the post was true... AWM is gone![]()
Yes, I will. Not surprised someone beat me to it and it's cool you snagged the AWM if I'm interpreting your smiley faces correctly. Post pics when you get it!
The AW and AWM are still very cool but getting parts for discontinued AI rifles is even more of a pain in the ass than getting parts for current production AI rifles, and I would be worried about that if I damaged a bolt head or firing pin with a pierced primer or something.
Yes, I will.
AI still makes parts for the AW & AWM platforms.
2 years ago I ordered an AWM 300/338 firing pin assembly to shoot 300 win mag out of my 338 (the rifle came with a spare 300 bolt body).
Yes, they are making new parts, not old stock. I mean sensitive parts, such as bolt components. It took 3-4 months to place an AWM firing pin assembly to their production plan and 1-2 months to make and deliver.Nice they had the FP assembly... wonder if they're still making AW/AWM parts or just working through old inventory and when it's gone, that's it?
Even just trying to get stocksides for an AT, not to mention an AE/AW/AWM is a chore. I know the old one piece stock sides were discontinued long ago when the tooling wore out and they were replaced by the modular stock sides, but several years ago I had to wait almost a year for a couple of sets of the newer modular stock sides for my ATs when I wanted different colors, and that was when the AT was still current production.
Last year I wanted to get just a 1.6mm small diameter firing pin for my AXMC and Mile High and AINA could *not* get one for me as there wasn't even a part number in the exploded diagrams to order the 1.6mm firing pin by itself. Sporting Services UK had to get AI UK to create a new part number in the system for just the bare 1.6mm firing pin, and 7 months later or so I had them. Right now I'm 10 months into waiting for a 338LM 1.6mm firing pin bolt body for my AXMC. Buying AI parts is not for the impatient, lol
Wonder if the OP over on THR will start a new thread tomorrow when he goes back to the shop to buy the AWM and finds out it's gone... his last couple of posts tonight sounded like he was thinking of buying the AWM. Maybe he'll buy the 308 instead, $6k is still a great deal for an AW + S&B 5-25.
Are you getting any extras with the rifle/scope/bipod? I saw mention of a hardcase. Is it just a generic starlight or pelican or similar, or is it an original AI deployment case with the precut foam, spare mags, cleaning kit, etc?

I wish I could order old skins, too. 3 sets (green-black-tan), but..no way..
One more company in UK offers an old AI AW & AWM stuff, and they have time to time old skins as well. They are working on to get export license to ship parts to the US.
Nothing else besides scope, mount, bipod and brake. Not even a mag. I presume the owner lost it. And a pelican case.
I bet I saw a 338 AXMC bolt body 1.6mm on Eurooptic a month ago. In stock. I’m sure.
Bolt serial number doesn’t match the action?
They are nice. I know they are pretty much universal for the most part, but that is backwards to how i have mine orientated anyways. I don't know if there really is a "right or wrong" way but i tried it this way but i didn't like how close mine came to the grip.Man, the ABR bag rider is really damned nice, but you probably know that already...

Anyways, dope ass rig. That is for sure.
