    Thinking about cutting down my 27" 6BR barrel

    I used to shoot 24" barrels at that distance. I switched to 26" barrels and have been much happier since. The little bit of added speed helps when the wind is blowing.

    I would look at Witt clamp on brakes. They are custom made to fit your barrel muzzle profile. You send them the specs for the muzzle diameter.

    I agree if you don't want to tie up a bunch of money in a barrel and have good results every time go with the Criterion barrel. I have never been disappointed.
