Gunsmithing Need advise/help making cerakote finishing oven...

What is a good fan circulation lay out. I am thinking something like a duct fan in a tube that goes in the side near the top and then down near the bottom. I should have some way to slowly circulate right? As opposed to just a fan inside to move air but not in any paticular flow? We started...

Gunsmithing CNC machine to inlett an HS Precision Stock for PT&G DBM?

I love to see people who do their own stuff like me. But if you cant do your own sending it to people like Chad that have a good reputation and quality work is the only way to go. And dont even bat an eye at the price, its way low for what it takes. All the gunsmithing they do is much cheaper...

Are Air rifles the pacifier or alternative to ammo availability & cost?

Another air gun to consider is DaveG air guns. He does great work and is making small production runs of his own design. They will be somewhere close to the cost of Air Arms but made in in the USA by hand. Here's a link DaveG Custom Stocks Home Page

    Kimber Model 82 G...Anybody?

Well, I joined the Kimber 82G bandwagon. I bought one on gunbroker at a fair price. I plan on doing alot of work to it since I can do it all myself. They thing that drew me in is the looks of it. I just think it is a good looking rifle. Hope I can get mine to shoot well.

    Sako finnfire on the way!

Got out to do some shooting with the Sako today. Shot maybe a dozen kinds of ammo, everything from Wolf match, eley, lapua, Winchester super X and Aguila match. The lapua grouped 3/4 to 7/8" at 50 yards. Which I am glad because $20 a box would kill me. I was hopeing the Wolf would be the...

Are Air rifles the pacifier or alternative to ammo availability & cost?

I have another of the Big Sumo Benchrest airgun going out this week. I love airguns. Ever since getting brand new FWB 124 when I was a kid and hunted rabbit, squirrel, duck, dove, partridge and anything else that was unlucky enough to be with in about 60 yards. Now these PCP have taken it to...

Are Air rifles the pacifier or alternative to ammo availability & cost?

Airguns definitly fill a void for me. I wish I could shoot centerfire and rimfire more but work way to much to make the trip out to the desert to shoot. I build these and others and the accuracy is something else. I can shoot daily on my property out the shop door as my machines are running...

Question on Kimber 82 CMP rifles

That is the info I was looking to hear. I have a full CNC shop here for my bussiness and was thinking of buying the PTG 40X bolt and building my own action but I really like the looks of the Kimber and when I saw the little load ramp was removable I thought it would save a lot of time to start...

Question on Kimber 82 CMP rifles

I was on gunbroker and saw some very detailed pics of the Kimber 82 that was made for a govt trainer. The wood an metal look very good quality. In one picture it shows the bolt open and the chamber area. Looks to have some sort of single shot tray that may be removable? There are other...

    Sako finnfire on the way!

OH yeh! Sako is now in my hands. I bought a SFWA 16X Mil/Mil scope for it. I wanted to focus down to 10 yards and this seems to be a real choice so far. I will get out to shoot this weekend and see how it does.

If you have any of these .338 bullets can you measure the OGIVE for me?

P7....what was the OAL? Then I can calculate the jump to lands with my chamber and mag capacity. Thanks so much for the numbers guys. I have been trying to buy sample bullets but can hardly find much of anything as you all know.

If you have any of these .338 bullets can you measure the OGIVE for me?

The one I am really interested in is the Berger 300 gr OTM tactical. For the extreme long range that plan on shooting I think every bit of higher BC is needed. I have a 2000 meter range and building what is for the most part a rail gun. Shooting from a concrete bench. I'm only shooting at...

If you have any of these .338 bullets can you measure the OGIVE for me?

I thought that the ogive measurement tools that we all use had a standard. But the Hornady gauge for .338 actually has a .327" dia hole. If yours is a different dia please let us know. Seems a standard would make sense but who knows these days.

If you have any of these .338 bullets can you measure the OGIVE for me?

Since bullets are so hard to find right now and I am just looking to see what I can work up for numbers with other than what I have now, does anyone have these to measure for me? I would like the Over all length and the ogive from the back of the bullet. .338 300 grain Sierra Match...

    Gunsmithing .338 Lapua reamer question

Another thing I was told is the 300 gr Scenar are much more forgiving on free bore length than some others. Like what X-fan said, .05 to .130 did not seem to matter.
