    God I Suck.

Could be your trigger finger touching the stock, there should be space between your trigger finger and the stock. It could also be you torquing the rifle if you put your thumb over the back like most hunters do, I saw a huge improvement when I kept my thumb straight along the grip. More trigger...

    Advice on correcting a flinch

So, I caught myself flinching in October before the snow began to fly. I haven't been able to get rid of it. I found that when the firing pin drops I blink, very fast, out of reaction to the sound (I think) as it happens even when dry firing. I find it only happens when I'm very relaxed and...

    God I Suck.

I've been shooting a few years too, but just starting to get into the long range stuff recently. My personal experience, limited as it is, says a lack of consistency. On a good day I can shoot about .8 MOA at 100 yards, and on a bad day I'm 2+. I think it's just from not shooting enough rounds...

Remington SPS Tactical or Howa 1500

My coyote rifle is a Howa M-1500 .223 and I'd personally take that over pretty much any Remington (in .223 at least). I got it for $500 used with 20-30 rounds through it :D

    REM700 .308 w/ 16" barrel....need educated opinions...

I've got an old Remington 788 chambered in .308 with the 16 inch brush barrel... Let's just say there's a reason my max range with that rifle is 400 meters. After that it drops like a lead balloon. I'd steer clear of this "Contour 7" rate of twist.

    Remington 700P question

Thanks for the advice everyone. Graham, I'll keep that in mind for sure.

Hunting & Fishing First time hunting question

I'm with 45.308 100%... When shopping for a hunting rifle two of my dozen uncles said "Get a .270 because you can kill anything in North America with it so long as your shot placement is good." I finished off a wounded mule deer my partner shot (It wouldn't have gone far but we didn't know that...

Hunting & Fishing Kill 'em all?

I think what he's trying to say is be responsible. I could personally never shoot an animal or spray into a group of animals with the intention/chance of wounding them. If you want to, I will never codone it, but I'm not going to pretend I can tell you how to live your life. With that said...

Rifle Scopes Best tracking reliable scope for $1000-$1500

To release the spring tension you're simply dialing it from a 100 yard zero to more like a 500 yard zero correct? Or do you just do one revolution up from your zero, ect?

    Remington 700P question

Thanks guys. The M40 is one of the reasons I'm going with a 700 action. It is tried and proven. And learning gun smithing was EXACTLY my plan, I'm actually hoping to get an apprenticeship at a local store for a few months to show me the ropes. OFG I should have a few to look at, and the guys...

    Remington 700P question

Thanks guys. My uncle is a gunsmith and going to give it a look over for me to make sure it's a "good" one. Blue printing was on the agenda though. Basically all the upgrades I want to have over the next few years: AICS or similar, maybe a Manners T4 or MacMillan A-4/A-5 Match grade barrel...

    Remington 700P question

I have actually, but with an extra $200 on the price tag I didn't see a huge advantage, as a 700P will be out shooting me for a long time yet. Besides that, the local gun store is getting a shipment in (their only one of the year I might add) of 700P's. However if the timing hadn't worked out...

    Remington 700P question

Thanks guys! Like I said, was just trying to be sure. Buy once, cry once. Actually might be getting an apprenticeship at a custom gun shop the next town over so might be able to do some work on it myself in the upcoming months.

    Remington 700P question

I'm getting what is to be my first long range rifle in the next few weeks. I have my heart set on a .308 Winchester for a multitude of reason. I was planning on getting a Remington 700P (easily upgraded a few years down the road) and have read dozens of reviews. I haven't hear anything truly...

    Bullet trace, Video 640 yards

I've been working on correcting a flinch too... I blink very fast when the firing pin drops, even when dry firing. It's so fast I didn't notice until I filmed myself. I'm thinking a very casual afternoon with the .223 and doubled up hearing protection should help fix it. Just shoot reactive...

    Bullet trace, Video 640 yards

Thanks for the advice Turbo. I've spotted for an uncle out to 800 and seen it before, just never while I was shooting. I've also only shot to 400 meters with hunting optics which has definitely played a role. I can usually see it if I'm spotting for someone else, even at closer range.

I've never shot long range and am hoping to get started within a month, that's why I asked. Thanks.
