    16-18 inch shorty rifles

Re: 16-18 inch shorty rifles Since I finally went out and shot the damn thing on Thursday, today I broke out the Aervoe and rattlecan-painted the stick. I may have gone a tick heavy on the OD green blend coat, but for <$1 worth of paint, I can always go back over and add some more brown...

Discreet short rifle (not an SBR) case?

Re: Discreet short rifle (not an SBR) case? Damn, there's no Play It Again Sports in Vegas (or Henderson where I live)--I'll have to hit up Goodwill and the Salvation Army to see if they have something that'll work. I did make a very generic template of my rifle with the stock folded since...

    Multitool for a Boy Scout

Re: Multitool for a Boy Scout Don't the Scouts have special rules for carrying knives? If so, you may want to check what they are to see if he'd even be allowed to have a multitool with him doing Scout-type stuff...

    Combat Loads

Re: Combat Loads Have you thought about a Mayflower PC with multiple clip-on chest rigs (one for the carbine/one for the long gun)? For sure, it won't be cheap, but Mayflower makes some top-shelf gear w/o being too heavy...

Discreet short rifle (not an SBR) case?

I finally more-or-less finished, less paint and an eventual can, finished my boltgun and now I need a case for it. With the stock folded it's appx. 29"x10.5"x4" so I was thinking either a discreet (no MOLLE, no more than a small velcro patch, preferably in an obnoxious civvie color, etc...) SBR...

    need a new trigger

Re: need a new trigger I ordered my Timney 510 direct from them (wanted a 2.5 lb. pull weight) and had it inside of a week that included Sat/Sun.

Gunsmithing Curing JB-Weld for scope base bedding?

Re: Curing JB-Weld for scope base bedding? Try #2 went much better today. I did the same prep work but spent much more time (prob 3 minutes or so) mixing the JB-Weld before applying it to the base. The epoxy went on at ~0615 then I went up to Nellis to hit the gym, get a haircut, and do...

Gunsmithing Curing JB-Weld for scope base bedding?

Re: Curing JB-Weld for scope base bedding? You may well be right--I mixed it until the material was uniformly gray but stopped as soon as that happened so I'll be more thorough tomorrow on try #2...

Gunsmithing Curing JB-Weld for scope base bedding?

I tried bedding my scope base (Seekins base on a SA Rem.700) today following the instructions on 8541Tactical and it didn't go all that well. Since there wasn't much more than a hair's-width of light showing at one edge of the base, I guessed no more than a skim-coat of bedding would be a good...

    Rifle Scopes Scope mounting?

Re: Scope mounting? After I posted yesterday, I found a .pdf on Badger's site since I'm using a set of their rings and they recommended spacing rings as far apart as possible. I'll have to experiment with that to make sure I can still rotate the magnification ring and have proper eye relief...

    torque on aluminum bedded stock

Re: torque on aluminum bedded stock The instructions that came with my McRee specified 65 in/lbs of torque for the action screws. For sure, it's a chassis vs. a pillar-bedded system, but 65 seems to be a common number for aluminum pillars or chassis setups.

    Rifle Scopes Scope mounting?

Re: Scope mounting? Not on the same topic, but a related question re: scope mounting--is there a general guideline for where to place the rings when mounting a scope on a Picatinny base, i.e. the Seekins base on my Rem700 build? In a couple different place I've read you're supposed to have...

Rifle Scopes TMR used for different mil values?

Re: TMR used for different mil values? It'll work in theory, but you'll have to actually measure your reticle subtensions against a known scale since 9x on the scope may only be 8.8x for real. Half power, in that case may be 4.4x not 4.5x and so you'll have to make appropriate correction to...

Rifle Scopes AR Optic for 16" Carbine?

Re: AR Optic for 16" Carbine? I'd go with a 2 MOA Aimpoint (not necessarily the new 2 MOA Micro--that would annihilate your budget) since it's perfectly capable minute-of-man out to 300 provided you do your job behind the rifle.

    bipod mount identification

Re: bipod mount identification That's the Tango Down Advanced Combat Bipod but I can't see enough of the mount to be able to tell for sure what it is... If I had to take a guess, I'd put a small wager on it being the OEM unit since it sort-of looks like a two-bolt clamp mount.

Now I see why no one sells thier atlas bipods

Re: Now I see why no one sells thier atlas bipods That's why I bought the BT-10NC bipod and a Larue LT-271 mount so I can swap one really nice bipod back and forth between my SPR and the boltgun with the flip of a lever. When I ordered my chassis from McRee I also got an extra piece of rail...
