Re: Class 3? Didn't know where else to post this.
Thanks for the info _9H. No, I'm not fluent with the laws, otherwise I prob. wouldn't of needed to ask. =P And I'll skip on the bubba in the backside lol.
Re: Class 3? Didn't know where else to post this.
Interesting. I'm not sure if he went through the process or not, just know that he bought it from a gun show. So legally, you CAN purchase an NFA item, just have to go through a bunch of paperwork and fees? Sweet deal!
I always thought you had to have a Class 3 license to buy a class 3 weapon (i.e. full auto). But a friend said you can buy a full-auto from a private party legally without a class 3 license? He said a friend of his purchased a couple from a gun show from a private party.
Is the license more for...
Re: .458 SOCOM Ballisitics? (Novice quesiton)
Thanks for the responces guys! I know the .458 SOCOM is a close-range round, I just didn't understand the point in larger bullet w/ slower speed vs. smaller bullet w/ higher speed, if the energy produced is about the same. I figured energy =...
I was reading an article (RRA LA-15 .458 SOCOM review) and they say the .458 SOCOM has around the same energy as a .308 or NATO equivalent? I seen a ballistics chart on the .458 and I noticed the energy wasn't very high.
So I have to ask, what'd be the benefits of the .458 over the .308 which...
I've been looking for a super-compact .223 to build. I asked about the Carbon 15 and virtually everyone said it'd blow up on me. I asked for any other suggestions but didn't get any.
Anyone have any experience with Rock River Arms? Their LAR-15 A4 with 7" barrel is really interesting to me...
I'm wanting to pick up a compact .223 and the Carbon 15 has caught my eye. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with them and what your thoughts on it were. Thanks for any info!

Re: Long-aciton, short-action?
Ah okay. So (rarely) there are times, a short action wont accept a specifically long round? But it seems, in most circumstances, short-action is the way to go, if it's an option.
Thanks for the 2 bits!
I'm a complete newbie, so forgive me. But what are the pros/cons of long-action vs. short-action? I see a lot of people mentioning it, but never understand the significance. Any shared wisdom would be appreciated!
Re: Few basic/newbie questions about rifle selection
Interesting. I thought the design of the .17 would yield better ballistics, especially down range. .22 is cheap and plentiful, I'll stick with it. I've seen M700's of different calibre at wal-mart for just under $500. I don't think I've...
