Left Handed M24 build [Parts Gathering]

Your biggest hurdle may be the stock, have to call HS and see if they make anything close in left hand. The rear iron sight base would be on the right side if you used it and the redfield palma only mounts on the left side. Good luck with it!

Remington 700 civilian vs. military cocking piece

The cocking piece is machined, as you term it, on all of the actions otherwise it would be a block of steel. What you are asking about is the difference in finish, commercial rifles get a shiny silver finish, chrome maybe, while military rifles such as the M24 cocking piece is coated with...

    Army M24 Build Thread

Since you mentiond OCD, the Dakota floor metal needs to be parkerized and then sent to Remington to get powder coated, if you want it correct that is...

    Army M24 Build Thread

As to the M24 follower questions; the M24 follower is not milled and it is not a .30-06, it is is a cast part made specifically for the M24 and coated with thermal cure dry film lube, they are only available from Remington. Even the magazine spring is an M24 specific part.

    M24 rebuild program

Why yes I do, I have studied the history and development of the M24 and I do own one and love it, gets better every trip to the range. Most people think they are over priced Remington production rifles, fact is they are built one by one in the Custom shop. Remington put a lot of work into the...

Glad to see someone got it that appreciates their worth, I hope its a good one. That shiny reticle is a tell tale sign of the original etched glass reticle, a few pics would be great.

As for the buttpad request, only place I know to get them is Remington.

Yes, the original Ultra reticle gives a sliver/gold color as yours does. The markings are laser engraved white on all of them starting in 1987 as such the white will not come off, cleaning with acetone will not harm the markings. Was this the one from ebay?

Remington M24 Issue with AICS Stock. Which caliber do I have?

If you are willing, some detailed pictures of the rifle and acc. would be appreciated either posted here or in the M24 build thread. Is this a factory M24A ? What is the serial number prefix, U.S. marked?

    Rifle Scopes New Trijicon VCOG

Trijicon just told me that the LED is it for now and they do not know what the future holds as far as upgrade with fiber or Tritium, so wait and see. Really would have been nice had they incorporated lessens learned from the ACOGs with this...

Same as the M24 stock? Yes and No, only the adjustable LOP feature is the same as the M24 stock. It is similar however the short action stock will not fit either of the floor metal /detachable mag assemblies used on the M24 as it is long action.

HS Precision stock question. model number?

That's a short action stock with HS floormetal and 10 round mag, first gen I think judging from mag. Also looks to be the standard HS 1 inch thick recoil pad for the adj LOP version and yes they look that thick. Do not confuse this with the M24 recoil pad, it is a Remington 1/2 inch pad...

    KNS anti-twist pins?

Who in the military cares if their lower receiver has worn out pin holes, not one individual! If the weapon is unserviceable they scrap it and we pay for another for them to carry off and drag in the dirt. I have used KNS pins on my Colt M16 since new for one reason, it cost me a shitload of...

No they would not replace the swivels, the UM swivles are for use with the issue sling, NSN 1005-00-714-1245, which is the M1907 type leather sling. It is odd that the TIS M24 sling is not part of the accessory kit circa 2003 if it in fact is the issue sling for the M24, more likely and upgrade...

How are those swivels correct? I have seen D kits from the initial issue through 2006 and all of them have Uncle Mikes QD Super swivels with the plastic lock removed and parkerized. The Uncle Mikes milspec swivels have been seen in pictures, showing use in the field but no evidence they were...

No that is used on the eye piece to reduce glare for shooting through glass, etc. It is part of the accessory kit as shown in change 8 of the manual.
