Gunsmithing Need a good smith around Northern Va

Re: Need a good smith around Northern Va L. W. Wallace in Winchester 540-888-4582 Did three of mine. I would have liked the threads a little tighter but they are spec and beautiful. If you have a can take it to him and let him measure threads on it. He's west of Winchester. Call for the...

    Precision .22lr Rig

Re: Precision .22lr Rig Go with the MKII TR. There are two models. One basic and one (Mark II TRR-SR) with rails all over and a threaded barrel. If you're not putting a can on it take the basic model. Get the small bipod (6" - 9") IMHO...easier to shoot.

    Photos BAD WEEKEND!!!

Re: BAD WEEKEND!!! Boyd's makes that stock. Order one for the Savage in some tacticool color and call it a day. Of course you could try pinning the stock and repairing it. The break looks pretty clean. J-B Weld and dowels. Hell, what have you got to lose?

    Suppressors Form 4 wait time

Re: Form 4 wait time I've been waiting since June. Seems they had to send my fingerprint cards to the FBI becasue FBI couldn't read the scan. That was end of Sept. Here it is almost January and still no joy. I had one come back in TEN days. They must have been setting me up for later...

Re: What is a Remington 504T HB Worth? Rich, I have one of these guys and love it. Does it shoot on par with my Cooper...nope. Did it cost as much...nope. I got a 20 MOA base from EGW and modified it to fit. I don't have any problem with the mags. People think that their trainer should...

    Pelican or Storm case?

Re: Pelican or Storm case? Plan on replacing the foam with something that doesn't absorb moisture. I don't store in cases but better safe than sorry. Minicell or another closed cell foam is the way to go. Mini is more expensive but bombproof. Cut it with a foam cutter off ebay. Hot wire...

All the infoShooting Steel at Catawba in NC

I shot in a tactical .22LR rifle match at the Catawba Valley Rifle & Pistol Club in NC on Saturday. It humbles you to shoot a .22 out to 210 yards and to have a 10 year old shoot your pants off. Moral to the story? Practice more, have better ammo, and a much bigger scope so you can see that...

    Gunsmithing Flame On, Volume II

Re: Flame On, Volume II I can fully understand but let me suggest that if you are going to start over that you talk with Clay Spencer over in Scottsville. Spencer Rifle Barrels - www.spencerriflebarrels.com (434) 293-6836. He would not be able to help with the lost action and barrel but he...

    Gunsmithing Remington 700 bolt assembly

Re: Remington 700 bolt assembly Check Brownell's or Sinclair. They sell a special tool (about $30) that will make your life very easy doing this job. Otherwise you're in for a hell of a time.

    Keith Johns made 10/22

Re: AZ Precision made 10/22 Oh, one other thing, I have the same rings on my trainer and I also think they are cool. You know, the recoil on those .22s will wreck a mount.

Re: AZ Precision made 10/22 Why didn't we think you'd put a custom knob on that daddy? Very good looking job. I like the threaded barrel.

.22 Trainer setup, Glass choice holding me up.

Re: .22 Trainer setup, Glass choice holding me up. I have the Weaver Tactical 3-10 that Midway has for $299.99 on my trainer. Great scope, very bright. Downside is no caps (Midway lists them) and no hood (forget Weaver, NIKON 40MM shade fit PSH-11). I got the 6 screw Weaver rings from...

Re: trainer stocks. RicosRevenge, You are right about the purpose of a trainer. One hole is desired and my 6.5 Lapua will do it. I wasn't trying very hard when I started shooting this. Just trying to get it on paper. While I have access to the likes of Wolf Match, at $6.42/bx, I wanted...
