    Gunsmithing Griffin SPRM drawing

A friend needs to attach an accessory to a Griffin SPRM mount. Griffin doesn't have an attachment that will work, so I'm going to make him one. I'd like to use the 45 edges for alignment. I've measured it, but I'd prefer to use their actual spec over making to a measurement. Does anyone have...

Suppressors AAC 51T adapter for form1?

I plan to use an AAC Blastout as a mount for a 90t can, but haven’t had time yet. You’ll obviously need to be able to machine and/or weld, it’s not going to work with off-the-shelf components...

Merit of common cartridges? AR & Bolt?

I used to have a bolt gun and a gas gun in 6mm SLR back before the Creedmore was a thing. Now the bolt gun is a 6mm Creedmoor, and I just rebarreled the gas gun to 6mm Creedmoor. I just need to drill the gas port. I do like having caliber options. Sometimes I also like having the option to...

Accessories WTB 6.8 SPC / Valkyrie Rem 700 bolt

I’m considering building a Remington 700 in .224 Valkyrie on a budget for my boys to get into competition. I have a stock and barrel blank, I just need an action. If you have a 6.8 bolt, 700 action, or barreled action you’d like to sell, let me know your price. If you have one and want to...

    Gunsmithing Barrel drilling

Here’s a blank for $63, Green Mountain is pretty good for a cheap blank. It doesn’t list the diameter so you might want to confirm, but it’s made for 7.62x39 so it should be right. http://www.gmriflebarrel.com/ak-blank-h-7-62x39mm-24-x-1-375-heavy-gunsmith-edition-raw-blank/

Rifle Scopes Fixed mag swfa still the go to?

I’ve owned most of the powers they sell, I still have 12x’s on several guns. They’re decent budget options, but I wasn’t a fan of any of the 16’s or higher I’ve owned. 12x is the sweet spot for these.

    Gunsmithing Favorite gunsmithing blog/site?

I learned a lot here: https://www.practicalmachinist.com/vb/gunsmithing/ Also Benchrest Central and Long Range Hunting. eta: For a couple years before I started buying machines, every time I sat in my recliner and turned on the TV, I'd be on a laptop. I'd research one gunsmith at a time...

    Suppressors .308 can on .223?

They work just fine. They have a larger bore, but much more volume.

Any pics of Surgeon bottom metal ?

 Apparently I hit the ‘last page’ button on my phone instead of the ‘next page’ button 1/8” away from it. If it makes it any better, those are the rifles I was shooting 10 years ago and are both long gone now. Don’t mind me, carry on...

Any pics of Surgeon bottom metal ?

Picture from several years ago. The 700P has Surgeon DBM, the Sentinel DBM is identical except it has a tab on the back to the pistol grip. Definitely my favorite bottom metal.

    Badger M2013

Mine is still the gold standard in my mind. I don’t have any updated pics with the longer 6 Creed barrel it’s currently wearing. I had it Ionbonded, it’s very smooth and slick, and I think the bolt lift is lighter than the Curtis actions I’ve built. One of these days I’m going to start on a long...

    223 aics mags

My understanding is the older .223 mags were better, but a lot of people had issues with the newer ones. I never tried the older ones, but mine wouldn’t feed .223 or .223 AI reliably.

    Remington 700 Issue

When you raised the bolt handle, was it heavy like the rifle had been fired? Insufficient spring tension could have kept the trigger from engaging and let it ride down when the bolt was cycled after the previous shot.

    223 aics mags

I still have some of the AI branded ones. If you find any- run. They are terrible.

Gunsmithing Why do all my high end scopes stick in precision matched ring bottoms while installing on a precision 1-piece base????

Stiction doesn’t necessarily mean something is out of spec. We all have precision ground scope tubes and rings right? :D

    Which rear bag

80% of the time I use the original. I have one from the first run, it still works great. https://triadtactical.com/red-tac-gear-rear-bag/ The rest of the time it’s typically a gamechanger or a Wiebad.
