Bushnell customer support (or lack there of)

Two of my match buddies bought Match Pro binoculars last year because they like the reticle - one of them "replacing" his Swarovski SLC glass. I was going to acquire a pair of my own... until I re-read this thread. Noped right out of the Bushnells. Instead, I ordered a pair of the open box/demo...

    Micky mouse is dead

Mention of CB caps triggers story mode (yeah, I'm old and proud of it... I should be dead). TL;DR: CB caps be way more powerful than a Sheridan 5mm pump-up air rifle, which was top-heap powerful in 1966. -------- Circa 1966, I bought a box of CB caps someplace... back then, 14-year-olds out...

    Kudos for MDT Field Stock

I ordered an MDT Field Stock for my son's CZ-455 during the Black Friday sale. I just got around to putting the rifle, originally a 27" Ultra-Luxe, in the new stock Monday. Then I did a quick range session with the rig. I am quite impressed with the stock - certainly an upgrade from the...

    CZ 455 stock/chassis suggestions

Updating this old thread. Long story short, I ordered MDT's Field Stock for my son's 455 during the Black Friday sale. I just put the rifle into the stock and tried it out a couple of days ago. I like it. A lot. Rifle (originally a 27" Ultra-Luxe) shoots very well with a variety of ammo SKUs...

    Sighting in advise

OP, your problem, pure and simple, is you have a red-dot sight reticle centered way forward on the rail and... what, 3+ inches over the bore? You'll do FAR better to sight in at 50. Better still, cut about 1.0" - 1.5" off the mount height and move the whole thing to the back of the pic rail.

Help with decision on replacing barrel or new rifle

So if I correctly distill the information in your post, the constraint in all your choices is lead-free ammo, which has proven to perform poorly in your current rifle. A few thoughts: If you buy a different rifle in different caliber / twist rate, you still won't know how well the lead-free...

Suggestions for starter Chassis bolt action rifle in 6.5?

^^^^ What he said. I traveled the path you're on about eight years ago. A lifelong skeet competitor, I ended up getting hooked on precision rifle after I retired. Started with a DMR-variant AR, followed by a pair of Tikkas - 6.5CM TAC-A1 and a .223 T3X Varmint. I put the .223 in an MDT LSS-XL...

Badger Ordinance Dead Level not level?

Once upon a time I compared the level in my iPhone built-in "Measure" app to a machinist's fancy level. They matched. Fwiw. Easy button for leveling a scope to the rail is one of the "cheep" wedge levelers from Amazon or somesuch. I picked up a more expensive Arisaka wedge leveler off a prize...

Caliber choice between 6.5 creedmoor and 6 creedmoor?

Got more than that on current 6.5CM barrel.... but yeah 6BR has been my go-to match caliber for awhile. My biggest weakness is reading wind, not setting elevation. Very little difference in 1000-yard wind deflection of 6mm/105gr vs 6.5mm/140gr Berger Hybrids at 2775fps, and I'll take the 1.0-mil...

Caliber choice between 6.5 creedmoor and 6 creedmoor?

OP doesn't say what the calibers will be used for, but he mentions price. So I'll say that the first thing I think of in a 6.5CM vs 6CM discussion isn't trajectory or recoil. It's the fact that a 6CM barrel will be toast in under 2000 rounds. With mild factory ammo, it's likely a 6.5CM would...

    Cartridges for plinking suggestions

If OP likes/wants to reload for this plinking endeavor, I would second buying (Tikka Varmint / Super Varmint) or building (Zermatt Origin) a good .223 bolt gun. As mentioned, reloading gear already on hand. Otherwise, a good .22LR. CZ 457 Varmint or MTR is easy button. If I had to give up all...

Vudoo Left Hand 360 availability UPDATE

Sigh. I had my doubts that Vudoo could maintain the level of customer support they provided in those early first years. When I got my first-gen rifle in early 2019, I told one of the then-principals of the company that I hoped they wouldn't choke on their own growth. They quit offering left-hand...

    New Brass too short?

I bought 1000 new same-lot Starline .223 cases several years ago. They do run short. A buddy of mine experienced the same thing with his Starline .223 brass. --- I second the previous suggestion to fireform cases using CCI 400 primers instead of your BR-4 (or CCI 450 magnum) primers. I'd do this...

    6.5 Creedmoor Brass NOT CHAMBERING

While most people think of a case gauge as being like the Wilson product on the left, the Whidden gauge on the right makes measuring from SAAMI and observed offset easy. I usually find virgin brass to measure under spec (0.00 on the gauge; e.g., new brass will come in at -0.003 or somesuch)...

Are precision .22 rimfires ammo picky or

Agree - I've seen this with my lot-tested (Lapua west facility in AZ) Center-X. Shoots well in every rifle in which it's been used. Unfortunately: I'm down to the last two bricks of the two cases I ordered. Ryan at the test center reported to me last week that wait time for a test slot is...

Are precision .22 rimfires ammo picky or

For me, sample sizes for accuracy and velocity for a given rifle/barrel are decided with a minimum of 25 rounds, preferably double that. Accuracy: consistent 3/8" at 50, one-MOA at 100 in optimal conditions, with a fair number of 5-shot groups 2/3 or even half that size. I am fortunate to have...

Are precision .22 rimfires ammo picky or

"It depends." My first-gen Vudoo (Bartlein barrel cut & installed at Vudoo) does quite well with a variety of Lapua, SK, Eley, and RWS SKUs. The labels it doesn't like - it definitely doesn't like and lots seem to have relatively little influence. My Rim-X with Shilen barrel is far pickier. It...

    Why do you like rimfire?

I too remember that first shot. I was maybe 6 years old, visiting one of a zillion aunts/uncles/cousins on my mother's side - no memory at all of which one - "out in the country" in rural NC. An older guy (may have been a teenager) comes out of the house with a .22 rifle. I had no idea what it...

MDT Field Stock for the 10/22

I got one for my son's CZ-455. I agree it's a very nice piece for $200 (BF sale). One thing I haven't found (looked for about 10 minutes on the MDT web site) is the stock screw tightening torque.... ?
