    Re: Why Glock? I own Glocks, HKs, SIGs, Steyrs, Walthers, FNs, and have owned several other handguns (Ruger, S&W, etc). I'm a quality fanatic, if it isn't well made I don't want it. Also, if it doesn't work reliably I don't want it. I shoot best with my Walthers, but Glocks are really easy...

    Re: Hammer fired, threaded barrel options? The HK USP is a great choice. If you wait a tiny bit, the SP2022 would a great choice as well. Factory threaded barrels are being made now (not released yet).

    Re: Catastrophic failures in pistols The odds of any firearm failing are so slim it is better to worry about your toaster incinerating your house than your firearm blowing up. That being said, try to avoid "hot" handloads and factory ammunition in .40 and you should be fine.

    Re: rifle under 1000 I would go for a plain old Savage 308, stock of your choice, and swap the scope that comes with it for something a bit nicer. A paper plate at 500yrds is roughly asking for 1.5 MOA or better, any Savage should give you that. (Assuming a 7-8" plate)
