Just a short film from a recent hunt where practice paid off...

Hunting & Fishing 6XC bags decent buck (stag)

Thanks for that, very generous of you. I try to bring in the atmosphere and more of the whole experience of doing this, sometimes it works. I wish I had time to invest in proper classes and really learn to handle the camera. (and gett better lenses) This was the 105 Amax. It wouldn't been my...

Hunting & Fishing 6XC bags decent buck (stag)

Agree. 243, XC, Creedmoor - couldn't tell them apart from shooting them. Only thing for me is that 6mm bullets are almost 2x the $ of 6,5mm so will eventually migrate back to that once this barrel is gone.

Hunting & Fishing 6XC bags decent buck (stag)

Showing a typical day out for deer. The 6 XC has proved surprisingly effective for me on deer, very mild to shoot and good impact observations.

Range Report Cold bore 500 yards daily

It's not a "one shot per day" regime, it is a "one shot gauge/evaluation". To shoot on cue regardless of conditions is different and I like to have a firm grasp on what my performance will be. It let's me do good risk assessments and I have a good understanding of my common errors and I can very...

PRS Talk Match report, MSRC World War Z, Norway. (Film 4, oct 23)

Midnight Sun Rifle Challenge 2019 is done. As always, it involved a bit of weather misery. Focus of this year's film is to better portrait the heart of both match and shooters. Unfortunately, I had a memory card failure so not all stages/ shooters will be fully covered. Here's the first film...

Rifle Scopes Revic PMR 428 thoughts?

I have used it. Worked very well both for ballistic solution and picking out muledeer in deep cover.

PRS Talk Match report from Norway, new film: stage 19, The Hunter

Stage 19. Basically get into position and shoot over the backpack from a sitting position. Didn't catch much film from this stage, so very short film.

PRS Talk Match report from Norway, new film: stage 19, The Hunter

Not at all. Those films are from "NM Langhold" the other notable competition in Norway. It's waaaaay down South where they have big trees and all...

PRS Talk Match report from Norway, new film: stage 19, The Hunter

Thanks for that xNF_9. There are a few more of these match films incoming and then a dry spell until I've filmed the 2019 match in late summer.

    Another stage. 10 shots, 90 seconds and 1106 meters/ 1210 yds.

PRS Talk Match report from Norway, new film: stage 19, The Hunter

All of these films are from MSRC which has the 24 hrs (minimum) Activity. "NM Langhold" is the second one, but little media from there. That is in March, walking on snow (snowshoes) for approximately 10 miles). These are the only two matches with such content that I am aware of. More and more...

PRS Talk Match report from Norway, new film: stage 19, The Hunter

Stage 17 Know Your Limits, a very popular stage which can cause quite a stir in the ranking lists as top shooters can suddenly drop 6-15 points and the careful ones can close the gap with 6-10 points.

PRS Talk Match report from Norway, new film: stage 19, The Hunter

Another stage, shooting multiple targets inside a time limit. It's one of those stages that are traditionally perceived as very easy, but stage statistics indicate otherwise.

PRS Talk Match report from Norway, new film: stage 19, The Hunter

Funny you should ask, I gathered film for that topic yesterday. Living at 67 North I do get some exposure due weather statistics alone, simply not possible to avoid as we have a lot of wind on top of the rain and cold (for reference, Yukon is 64N, Idaho is 44N) . The wind and windchill is...

PRS Talk Match report from Norway, new film: stage 19, The Hunter

The physical hardship isn't all that much if you're used to walking, it only takes about 20 hrs to finish the match. What is "fun" to watch is when the shooters get tired and fumble with basic mental skills. For example holding perfect for windage, but suddenly mistaking left for right. Many...

PRS Talk Match report from Norway, new film: stage 19, The Hunter

Thanks, very kind words. It can be nice, but quite often the weather negates any view. There are two significant matches in Norway. The southern one is "NM Langhold" done in winter and involves maybe 10-15 miles of snowshoeing through the hills in (sometimes severe) cold and deep snow, the...
