    FN AR (308)

Re: FN AR (308) can anyone tell me the muzzle diameter? The light barrel is around .790. for comparison, what's the heavy barrel diameter?

    float tube

Will a float tube installed on a RR carbine (16") have enough improvement in accuracy to justify the cost? I've had two retailers advise me that there wasn't enough benefit to these short barreled rifles and to skip the add on. I don't really think they know from where they speak, so I thought...

    options and decisions

Re: options and decisions Time isn't that large of a factor for me. It always boils down to "hindsight". Somehow I always over analyze things trying to rationalize what appears a logical assumption/decision. And according to my wife, I'm usually wrong. I guess I'm trying to fit everything...

    options and decisions

Ar platform in 308. the decisions are the POF 20' or the Armalite ar10t carbine (16") (I believe this is a limited production). There is a significant price difference. and of course the DI vrs. piston operation. Is the POF really worth the extra funds? I'm not trying to stir the pot, just...

    POF owners

on the new POF's , is the mounting rails on the sides and bottom of the handguard removable? Thus leaving a smooth handguard with the Mono rail up top. The pictures on the POF website has screws visible on these areas. I was hoping that this would allow for removal. Thanks,

LWRC REPR or JP LRP-07 or GA Precision AR-10

Re: LWRC REPR or JP LRP-07 or GA Precision AR-10 does the JP have a dealer network? Or is it only available through JP. I too have been considering the JP but would really like to see one before making any decision. As of now, I'm talking with D9 about a custom build, or seriously...

    AR 308 platforms

Re: AR 308 platforms I am looking for the LR308B DPMS , or the AR10T carbine. I realize there will be a slight cost difference between the two. And a mag cost differences but either of these will leave enough in the (rifle) account to pick up a decent trigger and glass with a mount. The stock...

    AR 308 platforms

Re: AR 308 platforms I have read over on arf.com that since LMT was given the Brit contract for a few rifles, the quality and QC has dropped dramatically. I'm not very versed in this sort of stuff, and I don't know how anyone would actually know such things, especially since the 308 is just...

    Gunsmithing karsten cheek piece slippage

Re: karsten cheek piece slippage By no means am I an expert, but after reading this, I would try to stabilize it by scuffing up the inside of the cheek piece. Then apply a small (very small, read tiny) horizontal line of silicone or a latex caulk and let it dry. Then reinstall. No damage to...

    AR 308 platforms

Re: AR 308 platforms Price point would be in the low 2K's as a max.. I realize there are a lot more expensive ar308's over the DPMS, but the more I thought about "what and why", I decided that I just didn't need the visuals that add a lot of cost. My main point of concern is reliability and...

    AR 308 platforms

I've been doing a lot of searching and reading, but as of yet, haven't been able to decide with any confidence that "this is the manufacture of AR308 that I'm going to buy."! DPMS, Armalite, LArue, LMT, POF, LWRC, JP, and the list goes on. After looking and contemplating the LMT-LAR-07, POF...

    Gunsmithing I @$#*&ed UP!

Re: I @$#*&ed UP! Can you not get the handle to lift (unlock position), or can't get the bolt to move rearward to actually open the action. I'm no smith, but this may help clarify where you stand

    Gunsmithing MOA confusion

Re: MOA confusion HUH?? Since weather conditions effect ballistics in a dramatic way, what is the effects on ballistics of shooting in/through rain or snow (flakes, not banks, and drops not lakes).

    Gunsmithing MOA confusion

Re: MOA confusion I thought that my logic was correct. I can not understand why the statement is made about rifle accuracy, ""It will hold "X" out to 300 yards"". It makes the reader think that once past 350 yards, bad things begin to happen to the ballistics with the described rifle. Thanks...

    Gunsmithing MOA confusion

I read on this forum a lot. Don't post much, but attempt to "absorb" what I read. Sometimes it becomes confusing. For example. I've read many posts that state that a certain rifle is capable of holding "X" MOA out to "Y" distance. Now the confusing part is, If that rifle can hold "X' MOA at "Y"...

    Gunsmithing re-enforcing the remington PSS

Is there a way to re-enforce the PSS stock for it to handle the application of flush cups. Is it the forearm or butt (or both) that has the problem? Thanks

    Remington 700 PSS stock

Re: Remington 700 PSS stock Randy, Will the cups simply pull out under stress? is there no way to reinforce the area? Of course they have the standard studs in place on the underside. Trying to find a way to make them work. Also, on a McMillan stock, with the eagle stock pack in place, the...

    Remington 700 PSS stock

Will the factory stock on this rifle support and retain flush cups mounted to the side? Thought I'd ask before I mess up. Thanks
