Issues with Lapua Brass (Updated with Pics)

Primer cratering, flowing brass on the head, and what looks like a sharp radius to the shoulder, that's three over pressure signs I see. What are the velocities like compared to your usual loads ? Regards Pete

    New TRG 42

Hi all. I've just put a deposit on a new TRG 42 in .338LM, it's an earlier model with a 1-12" twist, can anybody help out with a start load that should perform well enough for me to put 50 or so rounds through to get used to it before starting proper load development. I have 285gr A-max, RL33...

Subsonic .308 Load. Trail Boss or Titegroup?

10.2gr TB under a 175 smk works well for me in a 1-11" 26" TRG. The sound of the firing pin is louder than the discharge. I've used these to 300yds :)

    Go to .308 default load

45gr N140 under a 155gr A-max or Scenar, in Lapua brass and CCI primers, 2.8" works great for me. Also, the usual 44.5gr varget under a 175smk used to work until varget disappeared then stopped coming into the country.

    TRG Rifles picture thread.....??

Just scored myself a brand new, desert tan, fixed stock TRG 42 in .338LM, with three mags, brake and bipod for £3,500, again, a Jordanian spec with extended chassis, steel piccatinny rail, phosphate finish and the ITRS rail and flash hider. Pics to follow when I get my greasy mitts on it...

    TRG Rifles picture thread.....??

Built up to Jordanian army spec, there was a load of these into the uk due to a cancelled order. All tan, some fixed, some folders, some 308 some 338, all with the extended chassis, itrs rail, piccatinny rail and flash hider. So I guess as mine has a folding stock, and came with a flash...

    Maggie’s The Imperial-Measurement system

We don't do the metric stuff here, not really. I still drive a couple of miles to work, using a gallon of fuel, then use 8'x4' sheets of 1/2"ply, and 2"x2" then when I get home, I'll get out my .308" caliber rifle, with it's 26" barrel, and go and shoot, and use MOA scopes. Our speed limits are...

    Sako ITRS rail?

The itrs rail on mine allows use of the bipod, but I'm not sure if that's due to the extended chassis on mine. I have noticed that there are two types of itrs rail, but as far as I can tell, they both fit within the barrel channel, so shouldn't be a problem for the pod Regards Pete

What to do with my brake

I have a TRG and the brake for that has a clamp, and I find it 'behaves' better on a slight cant, as opposed to being timed 'straight' so, that might be how it was set up. Regards Pete

Need Help--308 Brass Growth and Stuck Cases in Rem 700

Ppu brass is pretty good quality, but, is pretty bloody thick too, if you want to use it, you'll need to work a load for that brass. I run nearly 2grains less than Lapua brass to avoid pressure signs. I think I was running 41.8gr under a 175smk iirc Regards Pete

Advanced Marksmanship Whose has the best Snipers?

Guys, please forgive the dumb question, I'm in the uk, so not up to speed with US military acronyms etc, MARSOC What's it stand for ? As it is pretty obvious that the dickhead OP has rattled cages, and the MARSOC bit stood out to me. Cheers Regards Pete

Rifle Scopes Assuming they are the same price, which scope?

Pound for pound (in the UK) I'd chose a vortex. I've had s&b before, and couldn't justify the extra cash over a vortex. S&b Cust service is dire, 3 returns to get a scope 'fixed' and was never right, vortex, get a problem, it gets swapped, forever, not just for the first two years. But then, I...
