Interest in firing pin bushing service for AI rifles

Just on this thread alone we have folks who can run hot loads without an issue and others who have problems with mild loads and factory ammo. I spoke with one of the AI distributors and they wonder if it might be a tolerance stacking issue. They cited one client with two rifles. One bolt...

I contacted him yesterday and received the following response: "It is case hardened & not tool steel. So I do not do them."

Interest in firing pin bushing service for AI rifles

If you stick to .308 I doubt you'll have a problem. I only started to experience the problem when I moved to .260. You might want to go to AI and ask if the firing pin aperture on these rifles will be smaller.

Interest in firing pin bushing service for AI rifles

I have been told that carbon or copper buildup could be contributing to my primer piercing. Using my Hawkeye bore scope I cleaned the barrel down to bare metal. I had to use JB and Kroil to get everything out. Today I went to the range and had a pierced primer after 50 rounds using 42gr...

Interest in firing pin bushing service for AI rifles

I have experienced this issue with virgin and fired brass. When I resize I bump the shoulder back about .001 - .002. As a result my resized brass is about .003 longer than virgin brass as measured from the shoulder with an RCBS case micrometer. I also trim with a Giraud case trimmer .005...

And for that very reason I would like to see AI come out with a narrow aperture bolt face from the factory. I would be the first in line.

Interest in firing pin bushing service for AI rifles

All, I would like to ascertain the level of interest in a firing pin bushing service for Accuracy International (AI) rifles. AI does not provide this service and I am not aware of anybody in the US providing such a service for AI rifles. It is my understanding that this service is only...

    AIAW- AE Dislikes?

My AIAW pierces primers in .260 and that really detracts from an otherwise fine rifle. Since AI have started to offer .260 and 6.5 Creedmore from the factory, AI really needs to consider a bushed firing pin.

AI AW vs 700 style actions ...which fails more?

I have an AIAW and it has a tendency to pierce primers when you move to the 6.5mm cartridges. I'm shooting a .260 remington. In its .308 configuration it was bomb proof.

    Punctured Primers Help Please!

I was looking at your other posts. Are you dealing with loose primers or piercing primers. With Lapua brass I've never had a problem with CCI primers.

Gunsmithing need a gunsmith to bushing a firing pin hole on a Accuracy International, suggestions?

That is on my To Do list. With the popularity of high pressure cartridges such as the 6.5x47, I see an opening for a primer manufacturer to come out with a purpose designed thick cup / hard cup primer. They could use a more sensitive priming compound to elminate FTF situations. Baring a new...

I have the stud which works very well with a Harris bipod, but shooting bipod prone can be a challenge given the shape of the stock. With a sling no problem. I also got the conversion kit from Champion Shooting supply so I can mount a traditional scope on the rifle (versus the 25x Lyman target...

The firing pin spring on an AI rifle could double as a suspension spring on most automobiles. It's a new rifle so I'm pretty confident that is not an issue.
