Gunsmithing Shot 30-06 through 300wm Accidentally

Re: Shot 30-06 through 300wm Accidentally He didn't keep it. He was too worried about his face He said the case looked like someone took a grinding wheel to the side. Glad to hear the gun will be ok. I have some hot 300wm I can throw through there and a long string too. Thanks for all the...

Gunsmithing Shot 30-06 through 300wm Accidentally

Need your advice guys. I accurized a Win 70 pre 64 style action in 300wm for a buddy. He bought a box of ammo the night before. At 4am he loaded his rifle. He saw a little buck and took a shot. The gun just clicked. He jacked another shell and this one went off. He got a little blast from...

    Do Not Damage Your Fusions!!!

Re: Do Not Damage Your Fusions!!! KL, I did mention that. They said because they were dropped, it voids the warranty. They even read the warranty verbatim for me. I am not looking for a reason to be frustrated with them, but it has been far from dealing with Vortex.

    Do Not Damage Your Fusions!!!

I have a pair of Bushnell Fusions that were dropped and the left eye piece was bent. It also hit just right on the left strap holder and broke a little chunk off. I sent them in to Bushnell and they told me the warranty was void since I dropped them. I understand if I drove over them, but to...

Gunsmithing Savage 7mm Problems with pics - Help!

Re: Savage 7mm Problems with pics - Help! I sanded down the rear tang area to float it. I also milled out the bedding forward of the lug. Back out to the garage for a new bedding job. I'll scuff it up, acetone it, redo the bedding, duracoat and call it good. I'll even get out the torque...

Rifle Scopes Talk me out of epoxying my base to action

Re: Talk me out of epoxying my base to action Great guys. Thanks for all the input. Most of these will be on rifles that get shot very little. Maybe 100 rounds a year.

Rifle Scopes Talk me out of epoxying my base to action

I am sick of screws loosening up. I want to put some devcon on between the tac rail and action and just screw it down. Should I put epoxy on the screws too? I figure I can always heat it with my heat gun to remove. Thoughts?

Gunsmithing Savage 7mm Problems with pics - Help!

Went and shot my friend's savage 7mm and the first 2 shots grouped well, but the third would always fly. I thought of scope bases, rings and scope at first. Took off old and put on new EGW tac base and Warne rings. I switched scopes and it still shot the same. I re-bedded the front lug area of...

Re: Scope? Groups low horiz. dispersion, high vertical UPDATE: Corrective actions so far: - Installed a EGW tactical rail (used nail polish in place of locktite) - Installed new 30mm Warne Rings (not the best, but he doesn't want to spend more) - Rebedded front lug area (ended bedding job 1...

Rifle Scopes * Viper PST Clarity Update *

Re: * Viper PST Clarity Update * I read numerous reviews, after I found the clarity "issue" and found that people have found the 6-24 clarity to be much better than the 4-16. I have no idea why though. To be clear, I was VERY impressed with every aspect of the scope for the price, just not...

Rifle Scopes * Viper PST Clarity Update *

I called Scott and talked to him about clarity of my 4-16. Long story short, the Vortex company really took care of me. I won't go into details, but he said, "If you aren't happy, we aren't happy." They have earned my business and will get many more orders from me.

Rifle Scopes Scope? Groups low horiz. dispersion, high vertical

Re: Scope? Groups low horiz. dispersion, high vertical 150gr powerpoint, I think. It shot great with bought ammo last year with the same scope. He said it hasnt been dropped and nothing has changed. I guess the big question is, would the scope malfunctioning cause a vertical error only...

Rifle Scopes Scope? Groups low horiz. dispersion, high vertical

Re: Scope? Groups low horiz. dispersion, high vertical Just to clarify, I only had two questions. I wanted to list the variables to aid in solving the issue. It is a 7mm mag. I shoot fairly often and do pretty well with my 300rum and 338 edge, so I don't think it is that. Side to side isn't...

Rifle Scopes Scope? Groups low horiz. dispersion, high vertical

Took my friend's savage 7mm out the other day. He was complaining of bad groups. I shot a couple 3 shot groups at 200 yds and found that it was about 1.5" side to side and 5" vertical dispersion. Variables: store bought ammo Shooting off of hard ground with bipod light gun right hand lightly...
