The best you've ever done

Crap, now I need to pull one of the CG/63's out of the safe. Honestly while the rifles can do that (6.5x55 rocks) I don't think my old eyes can see that well with vintage match sights - that is good shooting! ;)

so here I am looking at my really nice A3 stock that just needs some flush cups. I have a fresh 33/64" drill bit, & a 9/16-18 tap. How hard can it be? Somebody hold my beer and watch this

Hunting & Fishing Help me select a 308 win bullet for long shots

Agree, and I wish I would have had it in the stand last year. I got a 70 7mmRemMag heavy barrel and put my Nightforce on it. Then the nice 8 point stepped out at 52 yards not 500 yards. The deer is in the freezer, but other set up would have been better for that shot. This year I will bring...

Loading .308 with Lake City brass, 175SMK and Varget

Have you tried that load yet? I have run 45.0g Varget, LC LR 07 brass, 175smk, CCI BR2 well when it's colder (FN A3G), but that load was a bit sticky last August heat. I am looking to back it off and have a single year-round load, playing around with 44.2g right now but my chrono wasn't...

    F T/R Competition 308 ft/r go to bullet?

While I know a 175SMK point isn't the weakest link in MY shooting, now I will think about this when I throw an uncalled 7 out there ; - )

    Factory Winchester Heavy Varmint

Re: Factory Winchester Heavy Varmint Precision Shooting magazine had a series of 'Match Rifle on a Budget' articles in the mid-90s that featured these. I have a 308 & a 223, and both are great shooters.

    Gun insurance??

Re: Gun insurance?? coldbore, I don't think any FFL can appraise. For older or custom firearms there is a local gunshop that advertises 'certified appraisals'. They wanted me to bring everything in and leave it there while they researched, and charge approx $30 per firearm. Their point was...

    Gun insurance??

Re: Gun insurance?? When I inquired last year USAA needed serialized list and professional appraisals for each firearm. Maybe that changed or I misunderstood, but the appraisal would be a huge hassle. Lockton Risk (NRA associate) sounds interesting, I need to look into that.

    Win 70 stock?

Re: Win 70 stock? As long as you match bottom metal to stock inlet, it should bolt right in. I put a Coyote stock on an FN PBR 308, using the Coyote floor plate.

    Win 70 stock?

Re: Win 70 stock? Dantron, I can't help making a 700 stock work. I have switched a M70 short action stock onto a short FN, but you have to match bottom metal ( 1 or 2 piece etc) to match the stock cutout. Many of the FN take offs will be...
