    Daewoo rifles

Re: Daewoo rifles Shot them when stationed in Korea-- They seemed reliable enough, but not as accurate as an AK (which is saying something). That was 15 years ago...

Sell an H&K to buy .308 AR or SCAR17?

Re: Sell an H&K to buy .308 AR or SCAR17? Best is to post a WTB on HK-PRO.com for the KAC rail. A Mako G3-RS is a close approximation, but you will have to be careful with the fit to avoid pinching.

Sell an H&K to buy .308 AR or SCAR17?

Re: Sell an H&K to buy .308 AR or SCAR17? My experience was different from ORD's regarding port buffers and the rail mounts--the port buffer bounced ejected brass back into the chamber and I could never get the pic-rail mounts to hold the heavier scopes totally secure. The HK Claw mount with...

Sell an H&K to buy .308 AR or SCAR17?

Re: Sell an H&K to buy .308 AR or SCAR17? If you aren't shooting past 600Y, then replace the front hand guard with a KAC rail or similar (one that doesn't pinch the barrel) with a bipod, mount an HK Claw optics mount and a good scope, and then get a decent rear stock and see how it shoots. I...

    m14 rifle

Re: m14 rifle Have an LRB as a basis of an XM21 build (with SAK NM barrel)-- built to NM standards by Charles Maloney. The rifle will easily do MOA despite my poor driving. Recommendation: Find a reputable smith who knows M14s (in fact specializing in them or Garands). SEI is going to be a...

Rifle Scopes Hensoldt ZF 4-16x56 w/ NH1 reticle

Re: Hensoldt ZF 4-16x56 w/ NH1 reticle For those who have been shooting with this reticle-- how well would it do for F-Class at 1K? I really like the design and am considering a Hensoldt. All my reticles have marks in the center, and I'm wondering if that 3/10s MIL gap in the center may be a...

    Rifle Scopes 2d Lt. James Leatherwood's A.R.T.

Re: 2d Lt. James Leatherwood's A.R.T. ART II's were fielded well after the conclusion of the Vietnam War. The ART-TELs (1st generation) were fielded with the XM21 rifles. The cam on ART-TEL scope worked against the tension loaded base to adjust elevation while simultaneously...

    SR 25 or REPR

Re: SR 25 or REPR Have had an older SR25 and a REPR. If you are going to run suppressed, get a REPR and handload heavier rounds (above 175s). If you hate cleaning rifles, get a REPR. I you want itty-bitty groups with factory match ammo, then the SR25 is the way to go.

    Ammunition (Non-reloads) Question?

Re: Ammunition (Non-reloads) Question? Southwest and American Ballistics 175s would be my choice, in that order--both run lower SD than Black Hills in my rifles and are less expensive than Federal. I've gotten mixed results out of the Hornady--two of my bolt rifles shoot really well with...

Is the PSG1 worth the effort to find or clone?

Re: Is the PSG1 worth the effort to find or clone? I'd recommend going with an SR9T if you want the HK experience. The SR9Ts are very accurate, but they suffer from some design challenges (same as PSG1) that make them difficult to shoot well. As such, they have a mixed (and undeserved)...

    Army M24 Build Thread

Re: Army M24 Build Thread Anybody have a good recommendation on a stock pack that will work with the butt extended as far as it goes to the rear--fits so that the pack won't interfere with the bolt when cycled?

    AW Rifle groups?

Re: AW Rifle groups? Usually less than .75 MOA (often much less) with just about every type of match factory ammo--they aren't finicky at all. Handloads will go less with a little tuning. My friend's custom benchrest guns will group a little tighter with tuned ammunition (+/- .25) but they...

    Vias brake on a 300winmag?

Re: Vias brake on a 300winmag? What Pat said-- Get a suppressor if you can--lengthens/softens your recoil impulse and doesn't abuse the guy next to you.

Rifle Scopes First shot with the Spuhr Sauer SSG mount

Re: First shot with the Spuhr Sauer SSG mount With a raised cheekpiece -- how hard is it to see the bubble level at the base? I'd love to ditch my fold-out levels, but I can't see the bottom of my AI mount without breaking cheek weld. Thanks
