    700 Sportsman 78?

Does anyone else have info or experience with these models?

    700 Sportsman 78?

Thanks! Gunbroker has had a few of those up lately, they are way too beautiful for the work I would do to them to suit my needs!

    700 Sportsman 78?

I recently won via online auction a Remington 700 with a heavy 26-inch 7mm-08 barrel and HS Precision stock. The only oddity is that the receiver is marked "SPORTSMAN 78" on the left side opposite the action opening. From the research that I've done these "Sportsman 78" models were built back in...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Knife carry, sharpening and general observations

I'll chime in, as someone born after 1980... 1995 for that matter ;) I grew up in the country, I never lived on a farm but I had lots of friends and family who did. Anyone who's sons are scouts knows it's a big thing for a Cub Scout to get his Whittling Chip, or at least it was when I went...

A good ar scope mount (30mm)

Might get shit on by the guys who really know what they are doing, but the Burris PEPR gets you QD on the cheap. That being said, I regret putting a QD on my precision upper, like someone pointed out above you don't really need it, and you get what you pay for with the Burris. I know Vortex just...

Am I foolish for holding out?

Thanks for all the info guys, it really has helped. May look into getting an action and sending it to Pac-Nor to be trued and have a barrel screwed on, sounds like they have some high quality stuff. Also looks like RW Snyder's BCR wouldn't hurt too bad, as far as customs go. Has anyone had...

Am I foolish for holding out?

Wow, thanks for all the info guys, I have a lot more to look into now! I guess based on what I'm hearing I like the idea of starting with a factory Tikka in 7-08 (which are 9.5 twist), throwing it in a X-Ray and shooting the crap out of it to build my long range legs and practice with reloading...

Am I foolish for holding out?

For months I have been designing my ideal precision rifle in my head, all based around one stipulation: chambered in 7mm-08. I have hunted with this round my entire life, and I have been thinking of building a long range (out to 800-1000 yards, hopefully, give or take) rig on a fairly tight...

K-Bars What Knife is in your pocket right now?

Ontario Rat-1, or Benchmade Griptilian if I'm feeling fancy

Rifle Scopes scope recommendations for spr

I've got the vortex PST 2.5-10x44 which is SFP, but they make a 2.5-10x32 in FFP with a side focus that I imagine would be pretty slick. Just make sure to get a magnification ring throw lever, PSTs are tight... The gen 1 models are going fast, so I would go for one soon if you choose it

New trigger and finally got a rear bag, figured I would throw a pic on the new site

Sidearms & Scatterguns CZ 75 BD Police on the way!

Hey Sandwarrior, thanks for the compliment! I really do like the look of that 40P, I'm sure it is a solid pistol! We had a couple reasons for choosing the 9mm over .40. I don't know enough about the current ammo situation, but we have always been able to scrounge up and keep a hold of 9mm ammo...

Sidearms & Scatterguns CZ 75 BD Police on the way!

I figured I would update this a little, just for the sake of sharing my experience. I now have around 550-650 rounds through this pistol, and the only issue I have had is a couple instances where the slide doesn't rack all the way forward when, and ONLY when, you replace an empty mag with one...

    Sidearms & Scatterguns IMI Holsters?

Hey shooters, I was wondering if anyone had any experience with IMI and or Itac Defense holsters. They appear to be one in the same company, but I am not totally sure. I am looking to get a polymer holster for my CZ-75 BD in 9mm (holsters for which are few and far between, for those of you who...

Sidearms & Scatterguns SIG p226 Navy

We qualified on the 226 (we called it the M-11) over the summer, gotta say it was pretty slick. Once I got used to the feel of it versus my CZ I was able to get pretty quick with it. I have also shot the old man's 229 duty gun in .40, although that was a while back. They are both pretty solid. I...

Hunting & Fishing WI Gun Deer Season

I live up in Douglas County, 20 miles out of Superior and, although I am out at the Academy in Annapolis MD right now, I am coming home for Thanksgiving leave and intend to get a couple days hunting in. We have an old shack built on some property in the middle of nowhere, and I am curious which...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Tristar L120, a CZ 75b clone, must say the CZs are in short supply so I took a chance.

I got a great deal on a 75 BD Police around the beginning of the year, man do I love it! Those SP-01s look sick though, wish I had found one (and an extra 300 bucks between the couch cushions) back when I bought the BDP. Can't complain though, I've got 500+ rounds and nary a FTF, only one FTE...
