    Re: Are Seekins rings twice as good as Burris XTR ring I have used Burris and Seekins, and they will both hold a scope on your rifle. That being said the Seekins are definitely worth the money, much higher quality. Plus they are made in the USA, and Seekins is a sponsor here.

    Re: Family varmint gun I would go with a .223 AR, with a collapsible stock. Minimal recoil, light weight, and adjustable LOP. If you really want a bolt gun for them I would still vote for .223 since your not reloading.
