    Gunsmithing Stock modification ideas wanted

Re: Stock modification ideas wanted They end up getting about 15 coats of paint total when I am done with them. I have used the one on my .308 in snow and rain during deer season and haven't had any problem with them yet. If they did fall apart I could make another pretty easy and for about...

    Gunsmithing Another Homemade stock build

Re: Another Homemade stock build I will get a weight on one tonight. I can have one to the point of being ready for bedding in a couple of hours anymore. I do the inletting differently now which really speeds things up. I have drawn up the inlet model in sketchup and print that out at a...

Power Pro 2000MR for 308 win

Re: Power Pro 2000MR for 308 win I'm not 100% sure what the sensitivity is like. I will just mention my experience with it. I worked my load up for the 178 A-Max with it this summmer in 85-90 degree weather and was shooting it this Novemeber in the 30's and had no difference in poi. I know...

    Gunsmithing Another Homemade stock build

Well I finally built another stock from scratch. I had built one earlier in the year and planned on starting the next right away. That didn't happen, however I was wanting to have a new one built before deer season started. The build went the same way as last time. These are the only pics I...

    Gunsmithing Removing Savage Accutrigger?

Re: Removing Savage Accutrigger? It is stupidly easy. Remove the bolt, remove one pin, it will slide out easily. Pull the trigger off the receiver. Slide the safety to the rear, pull the bottom off, slide the top part of safety off the receiver. That's all there is to it.

    Gunsmithing Homemade Wood Stock Build

Re: Homemade Wood Stock Build Thanks for the comments. Yep there are a few spots that would prolly look better with a camo. When it was just flat black before the clear it looked pretty good. The clear was a satin but made it pretty shiny, it shows a couple of spots that I missed with the...

    Gunsmithing Homemade Wood Stock Build

Re: Homemade Wood Stock Build Update-This weekend I was able to get some paint on this thing. Nothing special just a flat black with clear coat. I was just wanting to get it in something that way I wouldn't have to worry about unwanted moisture getting into the stock. I will post pics...

Do not bed the rear tang of a Savage action?

Re: Do not bed the rear tang of a Savage action? On a Savage the rear tang should be free floated because there is no mounting bolt that goes thru it like on a Remington. The bedding should really go between the recoil lug and the rear action screw. Will it hurt anything? Can't say. It...

Gunsmithing My $5 garage sale stock project. Needing help.

Re: My $5 garage sale stock project. Needing help. I would scrape or pry somehow remove the old bedding compound. I would then re-bed to your action. After that would tape up your barrel about 5 layers of electrical tape. Then I would shove playdough in your stock throughout the barrel...
