Anyone bed a switch barrel rifle?

Re: Anyone bed a switch barrel rifle? Why would the recoil lug be in a different position. The recoil lug on a savage is pinned. It mates up to the front of the action. Just make sure the same lug is used every time you switch the barrel. Don't bed the barrel nut area of the stock because...

    338 Edge / H1000 Pressure Woes

Re: 338 Edge / H1000 Pressure Woes Might be a stupid question but how does the bore look? Is there a carbon ring by chance. I've heard of this causing pressure signs when the load is safe. Like I said may be a stupid thought, but it's one that I had.

Savage bent receiver fixed - SHOOTING RESULTS

Re: Savage receiver FIXED - need to remove barrel It's funny with some of the replies to this thread by those who think this action will blow up, must have been taught that when a round is fired the mini-explosion that occurs happens around the area of the trigger group. Lol. It actually...

Savage bent receiver fixed - SHOOTING RESULTS

Re: Savage receiver FIXED - need to remove barrel This is not the first time that an action has been straightened after it has been bent. The rear of the action guides the bolt, and holds the trigger on the gun. As far as the action snapping in half under pressure and flying up in your...

Horrible receiver failure on Savage - NEED HELP!!!

Re: Horrible receiver failure on Savage - NEED HELP!!! You need to post pics for one. Sounds like you had the action wrench back to far which would lead to twisting. That would happen on any action. For the fix, depending on how bad it is. You need to send it to Sharpshootersupply they...

Hunting & Fishing Is 308 sufficient for whitetail?

Re: Is 308 suffiecient for whitetail? Have I seen a deer with no jaw due to a bad shot? No I haven't but I have heard of it. I have however seen a deer with no front leg and a massive abscess. That deer was put out of it's misery. Not trying to start a pissing match by any means just...

Gunsmithing Why are barrels usually cut on an even number?

Re: Why are barrels usually cut on an even number? What I find funny is say you have a 20" barrel, and it's chambered in .308 which has a COAL of 2.800 that means your actually pushing that bullet through 17.2" of barrel. Something along those lines I guess.

Hunting & Fishing Is 308 sufficient for whitetail?

Re: Is 308 suffiecient for whitetail? When shooting a doe I hate to damage meat so I go for the head or neck shot. These are graphic. This was with my .308 win shooting 155gr A-max. Again shot placement is pretty key.

    cant break savage barrel nut

Re: cant break savage barrel nut Remove the bolt from the action, take you a piece of flat steel or something solid, I use 1/2 inch extension that is 8" long and slide that in the action from the top or bottom it doesn't matter. Place that on the floor and put your barrel nut wrench on the...

Hunting & Fishing For you Coyote sympathists

Re: For you Coyote sympathists I think the problem with the video is how long it too him to pull the coyote out of the den after he had grabbed it. Not humane holding it there like that. That and the chick in the background.
