Gunsmithing Stock barrel after truing action?

As a follow up. The answer is no. If an action is fully trued the factory barrel may screw on but the dimensions of the action have changed. The change means the headspace will be off.

They are a victim of their own success. Cut them a little slack.

    Gunsmithing AK Questions

Turning AK muzzles for a concentric thread is machining 101. Its a pain but not an issue. Replacing a barrel, I won't touch that, the force used to pin these rattle traps together is immense :)

    Gunsmithing Barrel and Action cleaning

Not jumping into the ammonia part. I agree only clean when accuracy falls off. One thing I think is worth while is the rectangle internal lug cleaners. I advise my customers to keep a film of grease on the back side of the bolt lugs. That grease will build up.

    Gunsmithing Remington Action Truing Options?

Amen! All machining 101. One thing to consider, us gun plumbers are tool fiends and fixture makers. So plan your holdings based on tried and true methods. Reading the old manuals still hold true.......keep it close to the chuck, keep it simple, and keep it rigid. The rest is gravy

Gunsmithing remington 700 bolt handle broken,

For future reference. Use your one piece fiberglass cleaning rod with a "bullet pusher" attachment on it. Will pop right open everytime.

    Gunsmithing PTG Bolt Problem

Success has its pitfalls. I think Dave needs to get out of the office and install a manager but I am not in his shoes so I am guessing.

    Gunsmithing PTG Bolt Problem

PTG is expanding by leaps and bounds. I hope Dave can keep up, ie quality control as there have been a few rut rohs from them through our shop lately. Good on them for success, lets hope they keep the original mindset.

    Gunsmithing Sako quandry

Nothing to do with Sako. You have 2 options for the DBM system. Do it yourself or have your prefered smith do it with their mill. Use the search here for others who have done it themselves. Some look quite good. Some not so. Depends on your capability.

Am I asking too much, or does nobody shoot 338s anymore?

Its caliber of the month syndrome. Like 300WM, can't give one away for 6 months then I get orders for 10 in 2 weeks. Go figure

Gunsmithing yes or no to calling out poor workmanship on gunsmithing work

Its bad juju to start tossing names when upset. If you did in fact give the original smith every chance to correct their mistake then shame om them. 1 oh shit wipes out 25 atta boys all day long.

    Gunsmithing Cerakoting without blasting

As stated above. The AO blasting is one of the key elements of Cerakote. You will be chasing your tail doing patches. Start over and do it properly, you wil thank yourself.
