Am I asking too much, or does nobody shoot 338s anymore?

I would include who built it. The 338 Norma isn't as popular of a cartridge as the Lapua, so it has a limited number of potential buyers. What is the round count? Can you sweeten the deal with brass?

The McMillan G30 action is very nice but also very expensive and trying to re-coupe your money from it is going to be tuff, they don't have a following like a Surgeon or Defiance has.

Include some more close up detailed pictures.

Good luck with the sale!

Doesn't seem "overpriced" to me, but understand your target demographic is a small niche. Not only do you have a big long range target magnum - but you've got one in a less popular chambering (not "inferior" - just less popular). A lot of folks that want a custom built magnum 338 want to have it built to their own custom specs and not yours.

Stick with it. It'll sell.

Custom builds are hard to sell. Your price is reasonable from a 'seller' standpoint (assuming low round count), but most people who are going to spend that much on a rifle will commission a build to get exactly what they want.

Once Berger came out with the 230gr Hybrid, lots of folks just using a 300 Win Mag and that bullet. The 0.74 BC Hybrid doing 2800fps hangs right with the 338's a long, long ways out. Then the guys really serious about shooting longer are going with the fancy 408 Cheytacs and such. 338 is somewhere in the middle now and the market clearly has lost some interest.

Just my thoughts. Your rifle looks like a really nice rig. Best of luck with the sale.

I also suspect timing has something to do with it. The market in general seems to have slowed down a lot. Hangover from Christmas binge; tax refund not as much as expected; continued uncertainty in the economy/marketplace; future worry about cost & availability of ammo and reloading components. They all probably play some part in why things seem to be moving slower. Hang in there. Things will improve towards the fall. Have you listed it on other sites as well?

no. not yet. might list it on long range hunting

LRH was the first site that I thought of. The 338 Norma has quite a following there. I know there are currently a couple big 338's for sale over there, but you have a great rig at a reasonable price. Best of luck to you. You might also try Long Range Only It's a newer site with only a small following, but you just never know.

Nice looking rifle.

Definitely add the builder info that was mentioned. A round count is a good idea too and maybe a couple more groups shown together could help. Maybe it has 3000 rounds through it and that group was a break in group lol.

Keep at it and I am sure it will sell. Small market for top shelf rifles, but someone will snag it eventually. Not everyone likes to wait the 9 months a custom takes. Just have to find someone who's needs match up to the specs on your rifle.
