I hit the wood lottery on a new CZ457 MTR. (Update) some of today's range day pics.

Picked up an MTR yesterday. (14 Dec) It has some of the nicest wood I've seen on a rifle under a grand. They really choose some cool looking walnut for these things. Looking forward to the arrival of my scope rail, so I can get some range time with it.

    CZ 457

Saw a post earlier that someone had to bevel the corner of their rings, because they interfered with the bolt handle on their 457. They were mounted on the D.I.P. rail. I ordered the Vortex Pro rings, and they already have that bevel out of the package.

    Any car guys/mechs?

What He ^ said. I've had a couple of Caddy ABS units rebuilt over the years for customers. They worked fine. I think You can get it done cheaper than that if You search around on Ebay.

    CZ 457

Very stoked to have found a great deal on a CZ457 Varmint MTR locally, today. Already had a Nikon Black FX1000 4x16x50 on the way for it. Should be a fun combo. Looking forward to some range time.

    Chinese products

Was looking at inexpensive rifle scopes for a future CZ 457 purchase, and the Vortex Diamondback kept popping into the lineup. Seemed like a decent little scope for something I might shoot at 300 yards at the max. Made in China. I kept going back to that. Kept searching. Back to the Diamondback...

CZ 457 Varmint MTR, my paper puncher

The standard Varmint is nice too! I'd be totally fine if that's what I ended up with. Thanks for the pictures.

CZ 457 Varmint MTR, my paper puncher

Curious if it has a threaded barrel, and if that's a Diamondback Tactical scope. I'm definitely thinking about an MTR for myself, or possibly the standard wood stocked 457 Varmint. Depending on availability around here.

    CZ 457

Tell me your thoughts on Your MTR. I'm considering one for myself. Arthritis has mostly put a stop to my centerfire shooting. I really like what I see in these rifles. Does it have a threaded barrel? Tough to tell in the pics I've seen. Edit to add. Found Your thread about it.

Mostly. Lockers, with .456 gears, on 33" tires. I use it as an expedition vehicle, and they've been good since 2014. Anything bigger than 33s though, and I'd recommend upgrading. I expect I'll eventually have to do an 8.8 Explorer axle swap in the rear, but not until it's needed. I might be too...

Who Likes Jeeps? My Jeep Cherokee Story.

Some time ago, probably 12 years or so, I decided I needed a vehicle better suited to get to campsites, shooting spots, and just having fun. More than the current hotrod mustang. So I got a 2001 Jeep XJ and a fistfull of cash for the Cobra. I was...

Stroker option is definitely cheaper, and less work. Engine swaps always cost about a gazillion times what You figure. Also, I bet I have a quarter of a million $ in man hours in mine. LOL
