Suppressors WTB: Searching everywhere for Surefire Socom brake for my Sako TRG, SFMB-762-M18x1

KNockdown, I'm looking for the exact same brake. Just bought a TRG. I am near Surefire's office and they said they provide first come first serve orders -meaning any dealer that has a waiting order would get priority over my walk-in purchase. That TRG brake has a backordered status so they...

    TRG-22: shortening barrel to 22" or 20"

That's why there's no 20in TRGs available, or at least very hard to find. I just changed my order to a 26in last week, because I was tired of waiting. Very excited though!

    First Bolt $1200ish budget

Sounds like the Sig SSG3000 is a sweet deal at $1600. Check out the new threads in the forum on it.

Roedale vs. Near Brake on a 20in barrel TRG ?

I wish I could use a can, but I'm behind enemy lines here in CA. I also like the PWS that came with my SCAR - it worked and wasn't as loud as most. PWS makes a larger precision rifle brake, but I would have to re thread the brake for 18mm.

Roedale vs. Near Brake on a 20in barrel TRG ?

Hey guys, Just ordered a 20in barrel .308 TRG and will need to choose a muzzle brake. Seams like its between the Roedale (or Eurooptics copy) and Near. I thought that maybe with the shorter barrel the Roedale's back angled ports send too much blast back to the shooter ? The Near brake...

Barrel fluting - what is it good for?

CNCjerry is correct that adding edges does add stiffness in certain directions. Thank you for explaining this. There are many structures that can be strengthened by cutting holes or patterns in it. The important thing is that there are obviously other factors at work here and this info...

    TRG stock question

You could check out KRG. They make the whisky 3 chassis for the TRG and TIKA. You could buy that for $1000 and dip it, keeping your original as is. Here is someone selling a rifle with this KRG stock and ATACS paint job - I'm not promoting the sale...

AI AE Modification - Loosing Weight

Sounds good guys. I appreciate all your thoughts. I've been going back and forth over getting my first precision rifle for about 5 years now, but finally "started" the buying process with a Steiner 5-25 scope last month. I figured get the painful part out of the way ! Now for the...

AI AE Modification - Loosing Weight

XOR, that's pretty much what I had in mind. After all the posts, I'm wondering where in the AE is it 2lbs heavier than a Sako TRG ? I would think the barrel profiles are pretty close. Maybe more metal around the trigger and grip ? The Sako front end doesn't extend as far either. I'm still...

AI AE Modification - Loosing Weight

Just thinking about how take weight off an AE (I don't own one, but looking hard). Since the chassis block comes off, could you CNC a bunch of aluminum out of the fore end making it a skeletonized design (keeping the threads in tact for the skins)? You could always reorder the front chassis...

Rifle Scopes Another "which scope" thread. Leupold or Steiner

I just ordered the Steiner 5-25 MSR this morning from Cameraland. Open box demo (never mounted) for $2499. The also offered (over the phone) a Hide price of $2650 for a NIB sealed ! This may help you choose.

Rifle Scopes Blue flare / color fringing

I was inside looking out (not back lit since the car was lit from a forward angle about 4pm), but as far as acceptable levels of CA I guess I haven't noticed it much in photography (Nikon, Rollei 6008 systems). Doesn't mean it's not there, but I probably haven't shot much that was bright white...

Rifle Scopes Blue flare / color fringing

Interesting. It was only happening when looking at a bright white car. It sounds like this is a problem for any scope. I was surprised, because high dollar photographic lenses don't have this issue (fluorite lenses, etc). They are typically in the 6x-8x magnification range, but like I said...

Rifle Scopes Blue flare / color fringing

While looking through a bunch of Leupold optics (Mk8, Mk6, Mk4, etc.) I noticed they all had sever blue flare/color fringing when viewing anything white at an magnification. This was looking through a doorway with no window glass obstructions. This was shocking to me for a $3000 optic ...

    Rifle Scopes lapping rings?

The best lapping kit I could find was from kokopelliproducts. I got their info from 6mmbr.com. They have all sizes 1", 27mm, 30, 34, 35. lot's of good info on scope mounting, etc. Don't get one of those sets with the cone tip alignment bars. You can make those cones touch at any angle and...

    Rifle Scopes lapping rings?

The best scope lapping kit I could find was from Precision shooting accurizing Kokopelli gunsmithing tools. Lot's of great info on scope mounting. I think I got their referral from one of the bench rest sites (6mmbr maybe). It is a fantastic kit and come in all sizes, including 34mm. Don't...
