    SCAR 20S Suppressed

What kind of accuracy are you seeing out of the SCAR 20s? I'm doing an accuracy comparison between piston-driven 308's and would like some data from other users. I posted a thread late last month but no takers. Would you be willing to participate...

What is your favorite stripped lower to use?

Aero and Spike's. Fantastic quality from both, but I give the upper hand to Aero as they have the rear tension screw to take up slop between the upper/lower for a nice tight fit. I'll probably only build off Aero from now on. Wouldn't hesitate with BCM if they ever sold stripped lowers, but I...

    Satern/Liberty 6ARC barrel

I've tried liberty barrels (button rifled) and have never got the accuracy I expected from a heavy match barrel. This is for a M14 barrel in 308 though. I have had good luck with Criterion, Kreiger, Bartlein, Lothar Walther and Benchmark. Criterion will be the budget option, the other options...

Is it a waste of time to anneal

I anneal for accuracy, neck tension consistency and to prevent neck splits. I reload for M14's though and they are harder on brass than the AR-10. I also wet tumble my brass and spray my bullets with a dry lube when seating bullets. Between annealing and the dry lube on the bullets, I get pretty...

A friendly accuracy challenge. Beat the match conditioned M14's/M1A's! (Piston-driven rifles)

The M14 is an old dog but it has the benefit of having decades of accuracy enhancements implemented by military match armorers and sniper/DMR programs that were dedicated to turning a 5 MOA battle rifle into a sniper, DMR and competition rifle. The average match M14 built with premium components...

M14 with Lothar-Walther heavy profile 6.5 Creedmoor barrel testing (ongoing)

Can't wait to build your 6.5 M14 with the ICR rifling! This one is their standard 6-groove rifling.

M14 with Lothar-Walther heavy profile 6.5 Creedmoor barrel testing (ongoing)

This is the first heavy M14 barrel in 6.5 that Lothar Walther has made. They sent it to me for testing with a reduced size gas port instead of the standard gas port in 308. It's performed flawlessly with bullet weights from 120 grain to 156 grain ammo. This thread will document the accuracy and...

Recommendations for someone to do DLC

Thanks. I'll give them a shot. I may do batches every few months to perhaps keep the pricing down. Tony.

Recommendations for someone to do DLC

Hello. Customers frequently ask me to do nitriding, but I have industry professionals cautioning me against it. I am trying to offer my customers DLC for their stainless barrels. Can any of you recommend a good source for DLC services? Thanks, Tony.

Got a nice package from Bartlein Barrels today...

22" heavy M14 barrel, 5R 1:11" twist. Frank did a limited run and I picked one up. It's unclear if they will ever do another run. They only made some because the guys that work there needed barrels for their M1A's. Hand times around 35˚ on a new LRB receiver. Unfortunately, this will...

bullet weight for 1/10 twist 308 in 16in barrel?

Try 130 grain hollow points. 1:10" twist is necessary for shorter barrels. I would also try a faster burning powder like IMR-3031. Tony.

Christmas list for a new M1A / long range shooter

Nice to see you here Glenn, and Brian! I recommend: -LRB M25 rear lugged receiver with 20 MOA rail -Kreiger, Bartlein, or Lothar-Walther 22" heavy barrel with a 1:10" or 1:11" twist -GI trigger group with a Shooting Sight EBR trigger -McMillan M3A stock, bedded with rear pillar and screw with...

New US Made M14 Lothar Walther barrels with new ICR rifling. 24"to 26" velocities out of a 22" barrel.

Yes, 5R's seem to have been the king of velocity gains. I've got a Savage 22" Benchmark 5R that I'm going to run it with next trip out. It will be interesting to see how it does. Tony.

New US Made M14 Lothar Walther barrels with new ICR rifling. 24"to 26" velocities out of a 22" barrel.

Thanks for the kind words, my friend! I'm still enjoying that ammo you gifted me! I actually told LW to send me an AR barrel as I'm sitting on all kids of 223 to test it with! Really?! I meant for that portion to be fast forwarded and slow down just as I got off the golf cart. My...

New M1A scout. What should I know?

Some guy went through great lengths to post M14 care and maintenance videos. You might give them a look. https://rumble.com/c/c-398725 Tony.

New US Made M14 Lothar Walther barrels with new ICR rifling. 24"to 26" velocities out of a 22" barrel.

LW sent me a test barrel. It's the first US made LW M14 barrel to come out of their US facility. The CEO of LW gave me authorization to mention their new rifling that, as far as I know, is the first time the public will have heard of ICR rifling, boasting faster velocities compared to other...

    R.I.P. J Allen Enterprises

In the M14 world, I consider the JAE to be best for accuracy and long range. I own two JAE-100 G3's and I use one of them to test customer actions. I also own two other aluminum M14 chassis systems and the JAE is the easiest to install and tune on an otherwise fussy platform. Tony.
