    TAC_338 build

Tubb may not offer the correct od and the id will also be too small. The stiller 338 has .050 larger od and larger barrel shank. The receiver may also be slightly longer. Make sure your smith is aware as these dimensions will require extra time And fitting. You mAy also want to use a barrel with...

    Gunsmithing Surgeon action screws

I bought a box of them from msc direct and trim them to length for all of my rifles. Never worry about screws again.

Gunsmithing Convert a 700 long action to 338LM?

The stiller is a larger diameter receiver with a larger barrel tenon. Guess stiller didn't like the thin wall or small bolt either. You may have to machine your stock or adjust the seating depth of your magazine system. You may also need a larger diameter barrel so that there will be enough...

Gunsmithing Convert a 700 long action to 338LM?

Agree with Dave. Remington 700 lapua chamber walls are scary thin. You could build anything you want with the money you save from not shooting the 338.

Love/Hate relationship, My new GAP 10

I understand not wanting to bother him. He may be able to list a few things to check for. I am sure he would be more than happy to help you out. He is just that kind of guy. When I built mine I had to keep it soaked with mobile one for it to function. After about 200 rounds it has smoothed up...

    Gunsmithing .338 neck clearance

Thanks for the info. It will be a multi purpose rifle. The more I think about it the more comfortable I am with the dimensions. I do not want to have to neck turn my cases. Also I am not used to building large magnums and I am beginning to think that the extra room is necessary for proper...

    Kaboom at Manatee today!

Just a thought. Does anyone think the thin chamber wall thickness could be causing the stuck cases? Maybe as the case and chamber swell and contract with each other they become tightly fit. Of course hot loads would cause this to get worse.

Mr.Dixon is a major contributor to this forum. Search Chads post and you will find that Gunwerks couldn't even sweep his shop floor. I would talk to him before you buy a reamer.
