Gunsmithing 6.5 Creedmoor in a Long Action?

No advantage to using a long action with the 6.5 creedmoor. The 6.5 case is pretty short and works great from short actions. I would sell it and get a short action from brownells. If you must use the long action, Badger Ord. sells a long action m24 dbm that uses short action aics mags.

    Way to make it.

There are many crops that are low maintenance, high yield that would be great for a side job. 20 acres would be plenty. Purple hull peas are a great seller and require little care. You can pack a deep freeze full of good veggies and eat em all year. You also have to remember that making $5000...

    Way to make it.

Several farmers I know work as full time firemen. They work 10 24 hour shifts a month. That gives them benifits and they have time for farming. You dont have to buy all that land and equipment to take pride in farming. With your days off you could easily work for a farm that is already...

    Gunsmithing 338 LM on a Rem 700

Wouldn't do it. The case is too large for the 700. It doesn't give much room for error. Stiller makes a larger OD receiver and bolt for this reason.

Gunsmithing Short Barrels in a Long Lathe Spindle?

I have an old atlas craftsman and can not run barrels through the center. All of mine have been chambered in a steady rest and the results are amazing. There is an article in the online journal "The Riflemans Journal" where German Salazar visited a respectable rifle builder who used this method...

    Gunsmithing AICS heavy barrel bedding?

I have read different threads on the pros and cons of bedding aics stocks. I have had several aics chassis but never felt the need for bedding until now. My concern is that the barrel I have is quite heavy and am wondering if it needs a pad under it. Here are the build specs: Action: Bighorn...

    Gunsmithing 1911 Safety stuck

Take a tiny screw driver and push the detent plunger back in as you push the safety back down. Never pry. You will ruin the inside of your frame where the safety lip rides.

Built a .308 AR, having ejection issues. Any Ideas?

I think your rifle is displaying symptoms of being under gassed. That does not mean it is under gassed. It could mean that you have a short buffer tube and the bolt carrier is rebounding too quickly. Is your tube commercial or milspec? It could also mean that you have the wrong combination of...

Built a .308 AR, having ejection issues. Any Ideas?

The case flipping backwards, was this on the last round when the bolt was held open?

Gunsmithing New rem 700. SS or CM ?

Hope everyone had a good Christmas. In the past I have always used cm receivers for my builds. While looking at Brownells I noticed that their stainless receivers are not much more expensive. I have never trued a stainless receiver and was wondering if any of you had a preference when...

    Converting Custom R700 from 300WM to 6.5x284

What problems are you having with the 300? With the right load I would much prefer the 300wm. Try some 208 amaxes and h1000.

    SR Gold Trigger System

My sr gold feels great and I like the design. I only have several hundred rounds through it and the reliability jury is still out. I am worried that once the gold wears off It will no longer match my grill. Overall I am very pleased with the purchase.
