    1 in 12 twist for 155's

Re: 1 in 12 twist for 155's h4895 and 155.5 bergers work very well with a 1-12" tube. I've shot it in F/Tr for the last 3 seasons, and it simply works.

    Old vs newer 162 Amax's

Re: Old vs newer 162 Amax's I've been wondering the same thing. I got 400 of the old ones without realizing it, and noticed the boxes say 1-8" twist. Will just have to try and see.

    Range Report 308 Win, 208 AMax, RL17

Re: 308 Win, 208 AMax, RL17 I a ladder test in .5gr increments from 45-48. 46, 46.5 and 47 all went in the same hole, 47.5 and 48 went back to where 45 landed. That's the extent of my testing w/ norma brass and R17.

Re: 308 Win, 208 AMax, RL17 I blanked a primer at 48gr., and that's w/ Norma brass. Lapua would use less...

Re: 308 Win, 208 AMax, RL17 Norma brass, 46.5gr R17 seems to be right in the middle of a node, but only shot it at 100 so far. might have some data after Sunday.

    Range Report 308 Win, 208 AMax, RL17

Re: 308 Win, 208 AMax, RL17 Early days for my experimenting. My chrono seems to be on vacation, so I have accuracy and max load data, but no idea about velocities at the moment.

    Range Report 308 Win, 208 AMax, RL17

Re: 308 Win, 208 AMax, RL17 Very interesting observations there Chris. If the Hornadys will do that, I can't help but wonder if Berger 210's might be a bit more consistant. 2700 w/ a 22" tube must have been a sight- how many loadings would your brass take at that velocity? I've just started...

    Gunsmithing 722 questions

One of my F /Tr rifles is built on a Rem. 722. I've been working on heavy bullet load development, and have been pushing pressures pretty hard. The last range trip, the rifle stopped extracting some of the time. When I checked the bolt face, the extractor is still there, but the ejector looks...

Range Report .308 with 208 Amax and Varget [Update: 5/30]

Re: .308 with 208 Amax and Varget I should say that I like to tinker when I have time to do it properly. I used to tinker all the time. Then this little person arrived in our house, and started dictating a rather different schedule.

Re: .308 with 208 Amax and Varget I've gotta say that I'm happiest when I'm not experimenting and trying to come up with somehting better. It sure is nice to have one load that you know inside and out.

    RCBS, Redding Powder dispensers??

Re: RCBS, Redding Powder dispensers?? Alan, If you want to drop powder like H335, then a basic RCBS Uniflow will serve you very well. I picked one up off Ebay, complete with the stand, and use it exclusivly for throwing H335 charges into .223AI cases. I weigh charges to 0.01 for my fclass...

Re: Buying F-Class Scope Today - Need Advice Yeah, those crossbolts will snap given half the chance! Truth be told, you will likeloy be fine with either one of the mounting systems you mention. The Burris system is just a nice cushion to have. Set up the rig with whatever you've got, and go...

sierra told me this, is it true?

Re: sierra told me this, is it true? 175 smks seem to tolerate jump to the lands really well. Assuming a saami/ factory chamber, I'd try seating at an oal that puts the boat tail/ shank junction of the bullet at the neck/ shoulde junction of the case (or just above) and see how that works.

Rifle Scopes Buying F-Class Scope Today - Need Advice

Re: Buying F-Class Scope Today - Need Advice I havn't had a chance to try the Sightron yet, but my NF BR 12-42 is the only piece of kit I havn't changed in 5 years of competing. Get a 20 minute base, and Burris Signature Zee rings. The offset inserts in the rings will buy you the extra...

Rifle Scopes Nightforce Optics Durability is Awsome

Re: Nightforce Optics Durability is Awsome My F/Tr rig wears a 12-42 BR mounted in Burris Signature Zee rings. It was run over by a minivan. The inserts in the rings allowed the scope to pivot in the rings as the tire over the front ring, forcing the whole rig into the mud. I remounted the...
