    Not happy with Kestrel!!!!!

Hmmm...so you put your Kestrel in an inexpensive pouch (not made by Kestrel) and the velcro fails, dropping you Kestrel on the concrete and it breaks. By the OP's reasoning Kestrel should replace it. Why??

Are Air rifles the pacifier or alternative to ammo availability & cost?

Comber...a comment and question. Good to see another pipe smoker...nothing beats sitting back in the evening with a good book, a glass of brandy and bowl full of good tobacco. Also...what kind of fountain pen is that (another of my vices)?

    I want a trainer. ---100 yards

What's your idea of inconsistent? The Savage's should have no problem holding 2MOA out of the box with good ammo. With a little TLC and premium ammo 1-1.5" is pretty easy. A CZ won't do any better...a good Anschutz will get you to an inch.

Savage TRR-SR vs. CZ Tacticool - Quality ? Value ?

You really have no idea how mechanically inept I am LOL

Savage TRR-SR vs. CZ Tacticool - Quality ? Value ?

Okay, it's not exactly apples to apples, but I have a Savage .22WMR and I'm very happy with the barrel (the s.s. bull). Up here in Alberta we have long cold winters and I have no issue going out in below zero weather (otherwise I'd not be shooting for 4 months of the year). So a 'cold bore'...

Are Air rifles the pacifier or alternative to ammo availability & cost?

Here is a page of airgun articles that will answer just about any question you can come up with. All by a guy named Tom Gaylord (b.b. pelletier) who has virtually written the book on airguns. As well he is a successful competitor with the M1 Garand and the 1911. http://www.pyramydair.com/articles

Are Air rifles the pacifier or alternative to ammo availability & cost?

I shoot powderburners. I also have collection of air-rifles. On a rainy day I can set a target up on my back fence and shoot though my back door. Can't do that with my .22WMR! On a cold winters day I can head down to my basement, where I have a 10m shooting lane (10m is the distance at which...

    I'm so ashamed

Lucky up here in Canada. The shortage is not expected to hit here till April or so according to my dealer, as it has taken them that long to run down their existing stock. In Canada dealers tend to purchase on a twice yearly basis instead of monthly as they do in the 'States. Prices are also...

    TAB Gear sling question

Tburkes Just gotta say...I've got the Tab rear bag and sling. Great products. The fact that you actually respond to people on a forum such as this means you got my business whenever possible.

    CZ versus Savage

Accuracy wise they are both very capable shooters. One will not outshoot the other IMO. If you're looking for a 'shooter' I'd go with the Savage...it costs less, giving you more money for scope/bi-pod/etc. Fit and finish on the CZ's are better...if you're looking for something to cherish and...

My turn to get into rimfire precision shooting!

I'd recommend the Savage. Mine is .22WMR, not .22LR. The gun with a decent scope (Hawke Sidewinder Tactical 6.5-20) was about the same price as a CZ. Pretty well every test I've read has said that accuracy wise the CZ and Savage platforms are about the same...just that the Savage is...

    .17HMR or .22 mag?

Hey AmmoDog, I'll even make it simpler for Callen...we don't have to explain anything to you...we all don't have to like the same thing. Really, why would you bother with a .223 when for the same outlay you can have a .308 with way more power? (do you get my drift) Okay, this is turning into a...

3 boxes at Wally World today

uhhh...the 'stinking rats' are us ;-) I was picking up some .22WMR yesterday...something my dealer never has supply issues with because there just aren't that many who shoot it in my area. They had sparse pickings because he said his few regulars that buy it had all been in the last week or so...

    Anschutz-Manners-SAS Comp Rifle

"Its irritating that I am having a flyer with the otherwise fantastic groups on the quality ammo" I've read on numerous rimfire blogs how common this is and how it has to due with the fact that, like it or not, most manufactures just don't take the same care in producing rimfire ammo as what...

    new dragbag review first impression

Re: new dragbag review first impression I purchased two of these at Christmas for my sons. They each have a Marlin XT-22 with Leapers 4-16x scopes. They (the boys) are 9 and 11, they wanted something that looked 'army', and as the guns with scopes are worth about $450 I wasn't going to be...

    .17HMR or .22 mag?

Re: .17HMR or .22 mag? It's obvious, Captain ;-) I live in a build up area. We have a problem with coyotes. The neighbors aren't going to appreciate: -the noise of a .223 -the fact that it carries a lot farther...they seem to have an issue with the thought of round going through their living...

    Expected Accuracy at 100 Yards?

Re: Expected Accuracy at 100 Yards? armorpl8chikn...I agree there is a lot of exaggeration on the 'net. Not long ago I myself took someone to task for making the claim that they could shoot sub 1moa 'all the live long day' (their exact words) with an out of the box Savage. And I feel I must...
