McMillan Model 86 M86 .308 Win. Information needed.

Thanks for the great info on the M86 Terry. Although mine has less than 1000 rounds through it, I'll be sure and watch for the issues you mentioned.

Typical number of rounds you shoot on range day

My range is a one hour drive each way. Doesn't make sense to make that trip to shoot 50 rounds. I usually take 2 rifles and around 80-100 rds. per rifle. Depending on how well the session goes, some of that ammunition usually comes back with me.

    Springfield Armory SOCOM

CMI mags are OEM for Springfield. They just don't stamp the logo on them for SA. I'd stick with them. M14 M1A Magazines - Check-Mate Industries, Inc.

    CLOSED! **ROUND3 !!**, (100YARD), Semi-Auto, 6group, 30round SHOOTOUT!

I have the 20" varmint RRA barrel and am just waiting for the upper. They won't say when it'll ship. Could be several more months. It's in a race with the White Oak 24" varmint upper I have on order. I'm sure that rifle will definitely shoot better once you "bond" with it.

Got tired of shooting F Class in open with my 260 just completed an M40A3 for 600yr FTR

That's a beauty and a lefty ta' boot! Nice shooter too.

    Rail Guns

Well, I think I get it. Competing for accuracy to the nth degree by building your own concept/design. If you think about it, that's what most competitive shooters do. This kind of competition focuses heavily on the machine. The satisfaction of building a better mousetrap has its own appeal...

    CLOSED! **ROUND3 !!**, (100YARD), Semi-Auto, 6group, 30round SHOOTOUT!

Sweet shooting! Looks like I have something to look forward to when my 20" RRA Varmint upper arrives.

    Springfield Armory SOCOM

Love my SOCOM 16. I put mine in a wood stock from Fulton Armory and couldn't be happier. Keep in mind that your SOCOM is more of a bush rifle than a target stick. I think you will be happier if you keep it and your new stock of choice in the same 9 Lb. range as the original configuration. At...

New addition to the AR family! Rock River Arms VARMINT 20"ss bull 1:8 barrel wylde

That is one slick looking AR. As we speak, I'm waiting on my own RRA 20" Varmint 1:8 Wylde upper for my own dedicated bench rifle in .223/5.56. Here's hoping you take it out to the range this weekend so we can see some pics of targets. Congrats!

    M14 any good at 800 ?

Good point. If you want 1 MOA at 800 yards, get a bolt gun. The M14 is a battle rifle and 1.5-2 MOA is probably what to expect. If, for some reason, your M14 will actually hold a consistent 1 MOA at 100 yards (something more often claimed than verified by the "all day long" owners), it will...

    M1A's, M21's, and M25's show em off!

    SAKO TRG22 .308 - Ammonition

Stefano, Welcome to the Hide. I've had great results with both Norma 168 SMK Match and Lapua 167 Scenar. Both European companies offer a variety of heavier bullets as well and might be a little easier to find. I would think that the 168 gr. loads should easily take you out to 800...

G.A.P. has a new poster boy!!

Diego-Ted, I absolutely love my Crusader in .308. It is indeed a laser and an incredibly comfortable rifle to shoot. I will be ordering another one in the next couple of months.

The Great .308 Win. War Horse. Can it keep up?

Fine looking rifle. Can you give the specs? Barrel, length, weight, chassis, etc.? Thanks. bluto51

    ASYM .308 ammo

Funny you should ask. I was out today with some ASYM 175s sighting-in my Crusader for a 300 yard club match this Saturday. 10 shots @ 300 Yds. After the first sighter and an adjustment for elevation and windage, the final 9 grouped under 2". I prefer the ASYM over FGMM 175s and I'll be using...

The Great .308 Win. War Horse. Can it keep up?

It may not be the elite cartridge it once was, but it's still in the mix. By my calculations, the top two winners of the 2013 F T/R Nationals this year would have placed 15th and 17th out of around 160 competitors in the F Open class. The .308s dropped just 13 points to the F Open Winner...

    (300YARD), Semi-Auto, 6groups, 30round SHOOTOUT!

O.K. Finally put the RRA up on the boards. Third time is the charm I guess. Shot like crap the last two times out even though today was a lot more windy. Go figure. Only one wild-ass flier today which helped a lot. Shot on 9.17.13 Rifle: RRA AR 15 in 5.56/.223 Barrel: RRA 16" Heavy Stainless...
