Help doping 5R 20"?? 175SMK shoot coming up need help.

Which ballistic program are you using? When I ran the numbers, (.308-175 SMK, 63 degrees @ 2880 feet) through "Ballistic" on my IPad, 2710 fps required 1.84 MOA to go from a 100 yard zero to a 200 yard zero. 2850 fps required 1.59 MOA to do the same thing. It wasn't until I entered 2900 fps...

Help doping 5R 20"?? 175SMK shoot coming up need help.

This seems like a silly question, but are you sure the adjustments on the scope you are using are actually .25 MOA? If ithey were just a little bit bigger than they are advertised, that could explain your results. When I run your numbers, at 2850 fps, you need 1.5 MOA to go from 100 yards to 200.

M24 is correct, they are made by Remington.

    Army M24 Build Thread

I don't work for "Big Green" so I can't say what they are issued. I wasn't issued anything in the way of ammo carriers for the M24, what I use is compass pouches, with 2 cut down plastic carriers, each holding 5 rounds each. I have seen everything from the brown box they come in to commercial...

    M24-Rebuild anyone recieve one ?

I agree with the general sentiment of your comment, but take exception where you said "These are not like USMC smear stocks with certificates of authenticity". I don't see how they are any different. I don't think there is any doubt as to their authenticity. The M24 return stocks would have...

    Army M24 Build Thread

It's funny you say that, I was thinking of making summary of topics discussed on each page in this thread as it has become a bit long and unwieldy, when you are looking for information on a specific topic. It would be nice if it where a "sticky". I am still getting use to the new format as...

Leatherman MUT: Why you must have one.

I bought a MUT when I was attending some training back in the states a year ago. I really haven't been that pleased with it. I keep it on my Rhodisian rig, as its a little large to put on my belt. I both of the screw driver bits, because the retaining button was accidently pushed all the way...

    Army M24 Build Thread

The rifle I am issued had the rear base removed and the armorer kept the sights. I can't imagine any reason that I would ever want them outside the states. I doubt the iron sights on any M24 have ever been used in combat other than ballast in a pack or drag bag. I still plan on keeping both...

    M24-Rebuild anyone recieve one ?

It probably looked something like this before the sniper painted it and then the improvised cheek piece was taken off when it was rebuilt. I am sure the original barrel matched the stock and scope. Congrats on getting the rifle. It is really a bargain

    Army M24 Build Thread

I ended up getting the Redfield base for the front, although I already had one from Champion shooter supply, and the Redfield "Big Bore" international front sight as well. I was very happy with the Modified WB490 they sent me. They offered to buy my WB670 base from me, but I never discussed...

    Army M24 Build Thread

I looked around for a few months for a Redfield WB490 base, without much luck. I finally came across "Out Back Gun Parts". I gave them a call and after an exchange of a few emails with pictures. They said they would mill one for me, that would include the correct 60 degree modification on the...

    Army M24 Build Thread

I am curious as to the difference between a 40X trigger, a M24 trigger and the X-Mark Pro trigger. I knew the information on the trigger used one the M24 was in this thread so I reviewed it and found this.: If anyone has any more information on the M24 trigger I would be interested in what...

McMillan Model 86 M86 .308 Win. Information needed.

I liked it enough to want to own one. My issued rifle was an easy .5 Moa rifle with match ammo. Of course my duty ammo was not match ammo. We used Remington 150 grain PSP it was still a sub Moa performer with that ammo though. They later changed to Federal 168 match. I thought the action was...

McMillan Model 86 M86 .308 Win. Information needed.

I was issued one back in the mid 90's. here is a link to an earlier thread with a little information on the M86. I almost bought the very rifle you did, nice catch. http://www.snipershide.com/shooting/showthread.php?t=90457&p=1299104#post1299104dvd

Range Report Ballistic Calc for iPad

I have both Shooter and Ballistic on my IPad. I never use Shooter, as Ballistic has more features. I really like the logbook on Ballistc. I still use my paper log, but I do find the log on Ballistic to be useful in studying my log entry's and looking for patterns and trends. Ballistic and...

A "third" caliber, but not to reload for...suggestions.

It's not in between a .223 or .308 which I agree are the best calibers to have if you don't reload, but a quality.22 long rifle would be in my list of "must have" calibers. I really don't see the need for anything in between what you have, the gaps I see are more over and under Under being...

    Camo Scope wrap

I found some camo tape at a tractor supply store, which was intended to wrap legs of a horse. It appeared to be the stuff that McNett was made out of (I already had some for comparison) except the horse wrap was wider and much cheaper. I think I got 4 rolls for seven dollars. It came with...

Range Report Ballistic AE .. what is it missing that you want..

I think it's great the designer came on the hide to solicit ways to improve Ballistic A.E. I don't see how your post gives any suggestions for improving Ballistic, which is what this thread is about. I would also disagree with your assessment of Ballistic's ease of use when compared to Shooter...

    Army M24 Build Thread

Re: Army M24 Build Thread The iron sights are in the picture below from "longbow"s post. They are above the barrelled action. Its just not a very good picture of them. It would be difficult to tell which version they are. I found it interesting though that while the the rebuilt rifle had...
