Silly me, I forgot to mention it's a .308 build, with a Broughton blank. I want it to be portable enough to be competetive in "Tactical" shoots, (potential to ruck moderate distances etc.), not quite a bench rest behemoth.
In the next few weeks, I'm going to be building up a precision AR, from a JD Machine receiver set. I am debating which barrel profile I will want. I was leaning towards an .825 at the gas block, but will I want the .936 later? It's a 20", and I want it to stretch to 1000 yards eventually. What...
For me, its about double the distance unfortunately.I tried to make it out, but a friend needed a shift change for her father's going away party. Next time I suppose.
Words do not describe the utter dismay I felt for missing out on this. I had to cover a shift at work for a girl who's father is deploying. Next time... may have to try and set one up closer to Clarksville, of course we only go out to 400... I need to move...
Rather odd requests; Anyone have any of the following? Weaver Tactical scope, Aadland rings, KRG Bolt lift, 700p stock? Just some things I am considering for a build.
Definitely making it out there. Greene, thanks for the offer on the scope, but probably going with the Weaver 3-15x50. (BTW, anyone have one?) Tevis, looking forward to shooting it.
Well, those are closer to High-End scopes according to my budget, but I was thinking along the lines of the 10x Bushnell Elite 3200 and the Falcon Menace and such. Just a beginning scope, so I can get used to fundamentals and manipulation of the scope controls.
Tired Winds, will do. Just got to set it all up with work. I am in Kalifornia right now, introducing the lady friend to the Parents (who haven't escaped yet. Soon, though...)
This seems like it might be a blast! I posted over here : http://www.snipershide.com/shooting/showthread.php?t=179975, and think this may have to happen!
Definitely looking at getting a build going some time around November, and I am the type to plan things well in advance. Now, the best of my memory says that I enjoy shooting the AI platform, but it has been a while, and I want to verify that THAT is the choice I wanna go with. Also interested...
Re: Bullet setback after chambering?
Thanks man. So it was indeed my lands pushing the bullet back that I felt. Roger. I gotta track down an old reloader around here! Sadly, I moved away from the guy who would show me all these things. He gave me a crash course shortly before leaving...
Re: Bullet setback after chambering?
So a bullet comparator is necessary equiptment? Again, I have never seen people mention that piece of equiptment before, so I am not sure. Also, any word on decent online reloading resources?
Re: Bullet setback after chambering?
I appologize, but in all my research, you are the first to even use the term ogive. I will have to look at it again. Apparently my Sierra loading manual is missing a few pages. If there are any, what is the best online reloading reference?
