Nice DOC! Good to see it has come to fruition and everything ended up working out. I think you made a good call with that 18" length. Should be a super smooth shooter right there. I know I owe you some load data, I'll get it out before too long. Congrats on the build my man, looks great!
Thanks for the feedback gents. I think it's growing on me, which is good as this shit is tedious work.
I think Kryptek is so difficult to do with Cerakote because of the number of colors being used plus the intricate pattern. I've seen and held some of the hydro-dipped stuff and the texture...
Got the stencils from Shawn Dixon at kickbackcoatings.com. His contact info is; phone - 801-888-0515, email - [email protected]. His vinyl stencils are good to 250 degrees and peel off easy after taking the heat. He's gtg.
This is probably more "real life color" with respect to how it looks in person. The Surefire mag makes it look a little better. That woodland pattern is WAY easier to print!
Appreciate the feedback fellas. It just didn't come out like I had envisioned it would. Then again, it never really does. I'll take it, but note that softening the lines on a Kryptek job definitely works out better with the darkest shade first and the lighter hues softening the lines to a point...
Just attempted my first Kryptek cerakote job on the little 8.2" 300 BLK. I'm positive that I fucked it up by not coating the darkest shade first, but rather the FDE followed by patriot brown and OD green. I'm contemplating completely reblasting it and starting over. What say you?
Regalkismet, what makes you think the SLR CH redirects gas? I actually saw these a couple weeks ago and thought the Mod 2 looked like it might be effective managing gas blowback in suppressed set ups, but I've never seen it back on the site since. Now it's only the mod 1 around which I don't see...
I figured (or hoped) that's what you meant. :-)
Mike High had a Vengeance last time I was in. That bad boy looks promising man. If 37.5 DB reduction in a 20 oz can is legit, it'll definitely be adding a tomb mounted Vengeance to the collection!
Hmmmm, I'm not sure if I'd try to squeeze a .338 Norma through a 30 cal Arbiter. That's going to be very NOT fun. Might you be confusing that can with the SAS Vengeance or the Phoenix? The Vengeance looks promising, but don't have any time behind one.
I'm with you on that. The 300 BLK doesn't come close to a 308 regardless of what you do. Hell, the Grendel would destroy anything a 300 BLK will put on target regardless of barrel length (from an energy perspective). If the AR15 platform is what you're set on, and energy and external ballistics...
12.5" 308 next to 11" 5.56. Im in the middle of doing a little kryptek sumpin' sumpin' but for size comparison....there you go.
I genuinely don't notice weight difference with the same optic on each. Twice the pow pow in a very compact little set up. Once you throw cans on - considering...
Chuck,
Are you able to share any info around your new handguards that you guys had out at SHOT and when they'll be available to the civilian market? Any update would be greatly appreciated!
