Deer Antlers, Spiders, Scorpions & Snakes Logos?

Re: Deer Antlers, Spiders, Scorpions & Snakes Logos? I'll take mine plain. But I do like the HK style bullet selector marks, yet own none. I realize some manufacturers want instant brand recognition, since I build mine they don't get my business. If I bought complete rifles it probably...

    Ammo 'rainbow' discoloration

Re: Ammo 'rainbow' discoloration I agree with the majority above, normal oxidation from exposure to whatever enviromentals. Seen it from handling happen rather quickly, other times no obvious effect for years, regardless, it hurts nothing, and a trip thru the tumbler would remove it.

Titanium fire pin does it help?

Re: Titanium fire pin does it help? The things I've read have touted shorter lock time, and reduced risk of slam fires. I have not used one, basic physics indicates they probably do decrease locktime, which is one of those things that probably won't make much difference most shooters. I've...

Rifle Scopes Question regarding higher verse lower power scopes

Re: Question regarding higher verse lower power scopes That and trying to shoot from unsupported and non-traditional positions is less apt to drive you nuts with less power. Of course the movement is still there but far less noticeable.

Rifle Scopes Need a scope with ample eye relief for novice

Re: Need a scope with ample eye relief for novice Leupolds and Redfields have about as long of eye relief as anything, in the vicinity of 4" on most if not all models.

    BCG: Staked or not

Re: BCG: Staked or not Some day I'll have to drag my non-contact thermometer to the range and see how hot a BCG gets during extended rapid fire shot strings, not quite mag dumps, but this probably won't be soon, if someone else wants to beat me to it. I question the suitability of loc-tite...

    Hornady V-max weights for a Colt AR-15 (CR6724)

Re: Hornady V-max weights for a Colt AR-15 (CR6724) The only way to know is to try them, there is no hit X velocity for the most accuracy rule. 40gr should be fine out of a 1:10, 35s and 40gr lead free not v-maxs do fine out of a 1:9, 60gr V-maxs have done best for me of all the bullets I've...

    Buffer, pins and small parts.

Re: Buffer, pins and small parts. Umm, hate to be rude but if you don't know about parts kits should you really be assembling a rifle? Most manufacturers of ARs sell lower parts kits (LPK), you can get them with or without FCG, from $30(-FCG) on into the hundreds, some dealers will upgrade...

Rifle Scopes NF rings don't even say NF any more?

Re: NF rings don't even say NF any more? Aww damn now nobody will know you paid allot of money for a set of rings, that don't really do anything a whole bunch of other brands won't. Personally I prefer my gear not bearing logos. Engraved before finishing isn't so bad, but I still prefer none.

    recommendation needed

Re: recommendation needed M1 carbines are pretty sweet little guns, bit range limited but fun, and nostalgic. One question though, I didn't see where it'd been asked, what's the set up of the current AR? Allot of people myself included have FAT ARs, 8 or more pounds is not uncommon. 14.5" or...

Why hasn't Mil/LEO ever used Savage rifles?

Re: Why hasn't Mil/LEO ever used Savage rifles? I read an article once about a unit in the Phillipine military having selected them as a sniper rifle. Which means nothing other than that they may and likely do try for contracts atleast when an existing rifle fufills the requirment. Sniper...

Rifle Scopes Help with red dot set up

Re: Help with red dot set up The Strikefire comes with a ring on an AR you'll want the extra high for co-witness. The Sparc comes with a proprietary mount, tell them what you're putting it on they'll get you the right height. They also come with a nice little screw in 2X magnifier, but if you...

    US Military Load developments

    Gunsmithing .308 Barrel Chop

Re: .308 Barrel Chop Stability should not be effected, unless you are shooting something that occasionally due to atomespheric conditions shows signs of instability now. It generally takes very large changes in velocity to effect stability, many report success with 175s out of 20" 1:12s. MOA...

    Lubricate Spring?

Re: Lubricate Spring? I throw a light coat of oil on with a soft fiber brush,, doubt it does much for function but it feels and sounds smoother than cycling them dry, atleast on a new gun where everything is dry. Basically never have to reapply.
