    rifling twist

1 and 11.25 is pretty good for 308.

    My .308 PSR Build Journal

Sounds nice. Any reason you're going 308 instead of 6.5 or 6mm?

    Dream Rifle

For a tactical rifle, I could live with this in 6.5 CM: http://www.snipershide.com/shooting/sniper-hide-gunsmithing/141993-e-cohen-dakota-scimitar-260-medium-tac-build.html Might choose a different paint scheme, and would probably want a Manners T4 or MCM A5 instead of the T5, but having a CRF...

sps vs the sps aac ?

Depends on your budget. If you're going to get a remington 700, I say save up for the 700P or 700 5R. If you have to choose between the SPS and the AAC, I say go with the AAC because it already has the muzzle threaded. If you can get a better deal on the SPS, a 1/12 twist will work fine with...

Cake and eat it too??? Hunting and Tactical rifle all in one, sorta!

The rock is a great gun, no doubt! Still, I think the Hospitalier is a better tactical setup and the Non-Typical (or a Sako 85) is a better hunter setup. The rock is a compromise of both ends of the spectrum. If I had all three, the rock would probably linger in the safe most of the time, or it...

Help me decide 260 Rem or 7mm-08

1/8.5 twist or faster will work. The problem with resizing 308 brass into 260 is that you will probably need to turn the necks to remove the donuts. You'll probably need to get neck sizer die with a bushing. IMO, it is so much easier to just by 260 brass or go 6.5 Creedmoor.

    6.5mm Creedmoor vs 6.5mmx47 vs .260 Rem

Are you serious? 6.5mm Shootout: .260 Remington vs. 6.5x47 Lapua vs. 6.5 Creedmoor The short answer is that they are pretty much the same performance wise. 6.5-47 uses small rifle primers, you can use 308 brass to form 260 cases, and the 6.5 CM has good factory offerings and product support...

    6.5mm Build Opinions??

Take a look at the XLR chassis and manners mini chassis options too. I would go with a tuned Remmy or Timney over a Jewell trigger. 28" is long; 26" should be adequate. What is your barrel contour? Otherwise, it looks good. BTW, there really isn't a performance difference between 260 and...

    Moving with guns

Is this a move with the military? If it's a military sponsored move, I would ship them myself. It's a huge PITA if you want movers contracted by the military to ship your guns. I'm moving to VA this summer and I'm taking my rifles with me.

Cake and eat it too??? Hunting and Tactical rifle all in one, sorta!

I'm going to be that guy who goes against the grain of this thread here. I think the "all in one" concept of a hunter/tactical rig, while intriguing and somewhat seductive, ultimately results in a rifle that can get the job done in most application but will never best the competition. In other...

    30-06 Build Plan

redneckbmxer24 and I will just have to agree to disagree, and I'm fine with that. I'm not going to carry around a 10lb+ rifle through the woods or in the mountain if I can help it. If you don't mind hauling a 14-16 lb beast on a hunting outing, go for it. Hypothetically you can put a golf ball...

    30-06 Build Plan

I have found that when you build a "multi-purpose", jack of all trades type of gun that it is ultimately suboptimal in everything you use it for. Perfect analogy is the 308 win cartridge ... can be used for many applications but doens't really excel at any of them; IMO, the "hunter/tactical"...

    Typical Beanland .260 finished

Very nice indeed. Curious, why did you go with a #3 instead of a RV contour? How much does it weigh? How does it shoot?

I love it. Nice job indeed. Curious about the weight as well.

    CDI DBM Install

You need a dremel and a fine metal final to take care of the minor fitting. You may need to trim the screws to the correct length if they protrude into the raceway and perhaps file the magazine catch lever. There is a good writeup of the process here: RemingtonOwners.com ? View topic - CDI DBM...

Need Suggestions on DBM for Remmy 700 5r Milspec - stock

I advise against HS mags. Take a look at all the top builders (SAC, GAP, RWS, Surgeon, Gradous, SSC, PCR, and the list goes on) and they all use DBM with AICS magazines. They are pretty much the standard fare for shooters on this forum. That is ridiculous that you cannot ship and receive your...

    Alpha mags......how long?

You will fit 5 308 cartridges in the 300 WSM magazine. The 300 WSM case is a lot fatter, which is why you can't fit as many.

Need Suggestions on DBM for Remmy 700 5r Milspec - stock

Send your gun to CDI precision gunworks and have them install their bottom metal with an AICS mag. You could also send them just the stock and they will inlet it for a little bit less and you will have to do some minor fitup when you get it.

    Alpha mags......how long?

If your bottom uses AICS magazines, then Accurate Mags will work. Alpha mags are the same magazine pattern as AICS mags, so you should be all set. BTW, all the alpha mags that I, and a good friend of mine, have received have had issues (won't fit all 10 rounds or feed very unreliably).
