    Full Length Sizing Questions

Re: Full Length Sizing Questions Punter, Depending on the load your using, your new cases might need firing 2 or 3 times before the cases are 'fully' fireformed to your chamber. This is probably why you are seeing a difference in measurement on your once fired cases. If you take your...

    17" .308win 208 Amax 2500fps

Re: 17" .308win 208 Amax 2500fps Well a DTA is on my wish list for sure, 90% of the guys on the firing line are using AR's (quite rightly so.. They are the sensible tool for the job) But I like to be different and use long rifle. Any points I lose standing/kneeling/sitting I get back on the...

    17" .308win 208 Amax 2500fps

Re: 17" .308win 208 Amax 2500fps Awesome rifle mate, and good velocity from your 17" too!! Just what I need for standing/kneeling shots How do you find running the bolt quickly when prone? I have only handled/dry fired a DTA at shot show this year, it had a 16" .260 barrel on it, and felt...

Neck Sizing Die...Redding or Lee Collet?

Re: Neck Sizing Die...Redding or Lee Collet? If you have the Hornady die already... Use it! Spend the $$$ on powder and bullets instead. (Or maybe some headspace/bullet ogive measuring tools, if you don't have them already..) Finding the correct load for your rifle is going to shrink your...

    Tumbling & Prep

Re: Tumbling & Prep +1 on all of the above, I actually tumble my cases with spent primers still in the brass, Because like you, the pockets never come out clean enough anyway. The primers stop media getting jammed in the flashole, (moot point because decapping pin pokes it out anyway as...

    New to reloading

Re: New to reloading I would start about 44grn and work up .3 steps. Your 1-12 will let you shoot up to 190's ok, and many can go even heavier if you push them hard enough. If you do decide to stick to 155 weight, don't overlook the lapua scenars when your comfortable with reloads! Good luck!

    FL Sizing Difficulties

Re: FL Sizing Difficulties Firstly, welcome! Secondly, I'm not familiar with the exact die your using, but I'm sure someone else will jump in to help! A general observation for FL sizing tho, you shouldn't need to put your full weight on the handle, that's going to break or bend something...

    Best 50-55gr. bullets for 22-250

Re: Best 50-55gr. bullets for 22-250 Mine prefers the noslers over the v-max.. But only for shooting groups, Varmints can't tell the difference. I had the best accuracy with 52smk and 52amax for paper punching, And the 52 AMAX worked just as well on fox/rabbits, but NOT the 52smk.. They...

    .224 70 Grain A-Max

Re: .224 70 Grain A-Max Berger 70grn vld is your friend. 1/9 twist and AR mag length compatible. I've had great results with both Varget and XBR.

Help me decide which bullet. fo .223

Re: Help me decide which bullet. fo .223 Are you planning on saving the human pelts?... A coyote isn't going to like ANY of those bullets any more than I would. the 55grn weight varmint/soft point hunting bullets are going to stand more of a chance of staying in the 'yote and doing plenty...

.223 twist needed for 75-80 gr projectiles

Re: .223 twist needed for 75-80 gr projectiles My 1/9 shoots 77grn scenars, and 77SMK just fine, I have no experience with 80's though because of mag length restrictions!

208 AMAX: Fit in S/A AICS mag?

Re: 208 AMAX: Fit in S/A AICS mag? They jump just fine out of AICS mags in my setup. Without checking my notes I think I started at 38.0grns Varget and worked up. I settled on 41.4grns, .020" short of max mag length. Good luck!

Question for .308 208 amax shooters

Re: Question for .308 208 amax shooters I have currently shot over 2000 of these with Varget now, I'm using a 1/10 twist though. 'IF' your 1/12 can stabilise them, I would think you'll be looking at around 2400-2450 maximum fps at mag length before hitting pressure. For 2500 or faster...

OAL for 22-250 with Hornady 50 grain V-max

Re: OAL for 22-250 with Hornady 50 grain V-max With small varmint bullets in a factory chamber/barrel, your never going to be able to get close to the Lands without hanging the bullets too far out the brass. Heavy match bullets are longer, thus allow you to get closer. If your bullets...

What is an acceptable velocity spread.....

Re: What is an acceptable velocity spread..... As with most things, it depends on your application. A 2 MOA steel plate at 600yrds isn't going to complain about 40fps, But 1000yrd v-bulls are a bit more picky. For my ammo and application I aim to keep ES under 20fps, And SD in single digits...

Anyone else ever heard of this??

Usual story.. Overheard a conversation in the local gunsho... about a fellow Reloader who inserts a small tube up the middle of his brass cases, the tiny tube has holes in it, so the primer flash goes up the tube and ignites the powder through the holes, all the way up the centre of the case...
